Covent Garden Flowers; Tuesday [12/04].

The candy-cane gardening shears, while not being very useful for cutting flowers, had more than enough whimsy in them to leave Astrid feeling bemused by the whole thing, thinking scissors with blades painted in contrasting stripes would be rather striking and perhaps an interesting idea for a mixed-media piece. It helped, probably, that yesterday's eggnog craze had come and gone, and she was starting to realize that perhaps there would be something new and different and festive like this every day.

Which made her far more excited than she'd ever want to admit, thinking about how much Ingrid would bitch and moan about the whole thing, and Astrid was just going to secretly revel in each little thing, not even mention any of it to her mother in her letters home, fill them with the expected bah humbugs and rants about consumerism, making the usually squashed-down rebel in her heart flutter around a little. By the time they actually got to Christmas, she figured she'd have had more than enough to make up for all the Christmases she'd never had.

...she just hoped no one was going to need any flowers cut today, though, because that would be a little tricky with the current state of the shears.
