Blackstone Foundry and Forge, Wednesday
Fjord was going to go ahead and assume, based on the appearance of the altogether bewildering gift he'd been given for the holiday and the comparative lack of singing birds or weapons turning into random objects, that the holiday had come and gone, and he'd somehow managed to make it through without a single terrible sweater incident or hat being stuck on his head for an entire day.
He was considering that a win as he showed up to work at the forge, yeah. He'd survived what he was pretty sure was the dumbest holiday this island had to offer.
... He'd enjoyed Halloween. So sue him.
Anyway, there was always work to do around here, and so he was starting his day by casting around looking for anything that still needed tidying up after the snowman attacks. Seemed like as good a start as any.
[OOC: .... Riiiiiiiiight, it's Wednesday! Open!]

Some people came in and said good morning, Beau, not just came barreling in and asking questions right off.

And that lesson was that snow hated it. That had been pretty convenient.

She rolled her eyes. "And now I'm bored again. If more weekends around here were like that, I'd be into it."

Someone hadn't been introduced to Yelp yet.

People liked a good fight anywhere!

Gods help everyone if she accidentally discovered MMA or something.
"Or shit, even . . ." She paused for several long, awkward seconds. "Do people, like, do things for fun that aren't drinking or fighting?"
Yeah, it sounded weird to her.
"'cause I could be down with that too."

He just liked working. Weirdo.
"I suppose there are clubs that we could look into. Sports, if that grabs your interest... Community... things."
He wasn't the best at this either, apparently.

Diffidently she added, "I might check out that thing at the community center. Not like it's like really a school class or anything." Because that was for nerds. Shh.

D&D. They were playing D&D.

Also with the encouraging teamwork and creative thinking and all that.
"It's practical, you know? That's cool."

...
Don't ask what his last name was.
"That said, the community center thing is usually at least a good distraction for a few hours," he offered. "You should take it in at least once, see if it's for you or not."
no subject
"Sure. It has entertainment in the name so like, what the hell, right?" Beau shrugged like she wasn't actually intensely curious about what modern Earth entertainment was all about. "I'm up for new experiences."

"Cool, cool. I'll check that out then. Hell," she added with a mischievous smirk, "I might even crash the school to like watch you teach, maybe heckle you a little bit."
no subject
"You know you're perfectly welcome to," Fjord replied with a smile. "Keep me on my toes. Maybe give the students some pointers with whatever it is they run into that week."
Mostly on how to punch it. Punching was important.

“Fjord, man, does anybody really want me around kids where I can like corrupt them or something?”
To be fair, Beau, you’re not the one who’s going to give a small child a dagger.
Just one of the two who’s going to think it’s okay to let her have booze.
no subject
"They let me around them," he pointed out easily. "I don't think anybody's worried too greatly about corruption around here, honestly."
no subject
And yet Beau kind of looked pleased. Almost. Shh, no, that was just a trick of the light.

god, work, why do you hate me so much??, coffee, offered up as usual by Amaya, though this particular Amaya looked as though she'd be more than happy to keep both mugs for herself today. "'Morning, Fjord," she said, fighting against a yawn and losing the battle, then shaking her head a little. "Sorry. 'Nother late night for me working on the Crumbler. Hope you don't mind, but that's where I was planning on putting most of my attention into today; those snowmen did a real number on her, let me tell you. In a way, if it weren't, y'know, the Crumbler, I'd almost be impressed!"no subject
"They did seem pretty hell-bent on taking out anything they could, didn't they?" Fjord gave her a sympathetic smile. "I don't mind you working on her. If there's anything I can do to assist, just let me know."
He was pretty easygoing today. Mechanical things weren't his forté at all, but that didn't mean he wasn't going to do his best to be useful, here.

"How else am I ever going to learn to fetch with the best of them?" Fjord quipped, amused. "You know, you look a little bit like you could you that extra dose of coffee this morning."
