And today, Summer was sitting at a different counter, working on different paperwork, and this time she was distinctly without a cat on her lap, and she almost sort of missed it. It was pretty nice that she could get up whenever she wanted without feeling a little bad about the whole thing, though.

Not that she'd needed to get up. It was turning out to be a relatively quiet day, really, almost eerily quiet, and Summer might have been inclined to suspect something really weird afoot, but, at the same time, she was just going to take a normal day and enjoy it for all it was worth. And now that it was the second week and people were starting to get settled, maybe more people would come venture out into the store and check it out, so she kept up her newbie special and settled in a little herself.
