T42 - Thursday 6am-6pm
Hernando was still in a very good mood. He had Valentine's Day plotting to accomplish. He hummed to himself while he puttered around the store. Feeding the quokka and checking the weekend weather report. It was supposed to dip below freezing over the weekend. He checked some of the usual canisters on the wall of doom to make sure there was nothing he would run out of. It was a somewhat futile gesture; the store would never let him run out of tea he was sure but he wanted it to know that he noticed what a good job it was doing.
When he began to place the pastries out, he noticed they all had some form of dark chocolate included. Small pastry cups of dark mousse, brownies, cookies, small dark chocolate cups filled with fruit compote, and the now ever-present cupcakes. A small box of cream-filled chocolates was in the drawer and while the store did not usually carry candies, he plated those up in a decorative heap as well.
Hernando raised his eyebrows and checked his phone. Oh. That was why. He smiled and patted the counter.
One of the smaller quokka made a leap for the counter only to be tackled by a flying Dave who boxed its ears and churbled angrily at it. Hernando waited until Dave was done with herd discipline and had returned to his bed in front of the fire before scooping up the smaller mammal and carrying it over to see - but keeping it in hand so it could not leap - what was on the counter.
"You must not eat these. I am certain they smell strange and possibly delicious to you but they are made with chocolate and that is usually a bad thing for small animals to eat. Come; we will find you a piece of carrot instead." He went and found a small carrot for the quokka and sent it off with its treat.
The pussywillows were also purring and making small meows so he made sure to spend time admiring and petting them also. He was glad he'd brought them home. It still amused him a little that the one Peter had claimed was still kitten shape and had been named. Hernando spent a little time sitting in a chair near the plants. Telling the former kittenwillows who were now just smaller willows all about their sibling. In case they missed it.

Had nothing at all to do with the pastel sakura motif on his fingernails today, no. Honest.
"Well, hello, handsome," he greeted as he stepped into the shop. "How's my favourite art professor tod-ohmygod are those things purring?"
THE PLANTS WERE KITTIES. KIND OF.

"Hi beautiful," Hernando greeted. He walked around the counter and went to collect a kiss. "Yes, they are purring. They are very happy today and are talking very much."
no subject
"Oh, man, that's awesome," Sparkle laughed, leaning in for a kiss before resting his forehead against Hernando's. Happy smile. Happy Sparkle. "None of my plants purr. They just kinda show they're happy by being... you know. Not dead."
Good way for a plant to be.

He knew Sparkle would want to know.
no subject
Sometimes.
no subject
But of course he would call if they did.
no subject
He wanted one.
Atton would freak. So he didn't want one that badly. Probably.
"Anyway," he added, meeting him for yet another kiss, "hi."
He hadn't come here to get sidetracked by pussy willows. But that didn't hurt either.

"You should stop by the flower shop and see Peter's sometime. I heard recently that it has become sort of a shop mascot. Even Fenris seems to like it and he has a face that says he does not often like things," Hernando said.
Sparkle's joy was always welcome. He collected the kiss and smiled back at him, "Hi beautiful. How has your week been so far? It is good to see you."
It always was.

Hernando heard the bit about the nails and reached to capture Sparkle's hand so he could see what he'd done with them. Then he beamed and leaned down to kiss the knuckles just above those nails. "The week has been good. Today started out nice and has suddenly become much brighter. There is much more sunshine in the room now that you have walked in."
no subject
Not even a little bit.
"You know what we need to do? We still need to make plans for a date four. I know I would like a date four."
Pushy.
no subject
He was not biased in the least.
"You may have as many dates as you wish," he promised Sparkle, "I heard you mention Valentine's Day on the radio. I had assumed.. well, no matter; it seems I was mistaken. Do you wish plans? Will you be with Leto? I have an idea but it would not be until Friday night."
Hernando stopped babbling and smiled at him. "I am not suggesting you wait an entire month for another date, no. It simply was on my mind."
no subject
"Huh, not-- oh. Fuck." He laughed a little. "It's family holidays I don't do... good. You should see me on like Halloween."
Best. Holiday. Ever.
"I don't have plans with Leto yet, though. I usually figure his family gets the holidays themselves. Alice and Hania get dibs. Especially Hania."
He loved that kid.
"Plans... I would like plans."
no subject
"Then plan to be out of town Thursday through Saturday," Hernando smiled at him, "and plan to bring a suit and tie. Barring Leto's request for your time. If you are with him, we shall go another weekend."
He leaned in to steal yet another kiss. "So. Date number four. Do you have any requests? Another meal out, another adventure somewhere?"
no subject
Boom. Excellent. Three day date? He wouldn't complain about that.
"And I mean, we could do both. I'm always a sucker for a good adventure, though."
So long as it wasn't too adventurous.

"The National Zoo is but an hour away," Hernando offered. Was he absolutely enchanted by Sparkle around fish? Yes. Did he want to see more of that? Yes twice.
There were pandas at the National Zoo.

"Can't hurt," Sparkle laughed. "One of these days I'm totally making off with a baby tiger."
Whether there were baby tigers there at the time or not, dammit.
no subject

"Yeah, the tiger would probably live in the clothing shop," Sparkle decided. "Since Atton hates cats so much."
It was a sad, sad life, being a cat lover with a cat-hater roommate.
"Actually thought about getting a cat for there? But, like, me and my one employee aren't enough company for a cat, I'd have to go to work every day just to hang out."

Sparkle considered this for a long moment.
"I'd ask if maybe they have mini-tigers out there in the multiverse somewhere," he noted, "but I'm pretty sure that's just cats."
no subject
This was all going to lead to Hernando someday having a cat, wasn't it?
no subject
"I would probably feed it meat sometimes too, as a treat," Sparkle mused. "I had a cat once, you know? When I was living in the dorms here. Ended up giving him to another student when I went back to Toronto, couldn't have a cat in my living situation there, you know? He was a good little guy. Clingy. I called him Velcro."
Velcro had been the best cat, dammit.
