Luke's, Sunday
Once upon a time, the prospect of working in a diner with a cook that insisted on serving pancakes every Sunday just to mess with him would have made Kanan squint and wonder how the hell he'd wound up in that particular situation.
Today, he just came in to work, looked at the specials board, shrugged, and ordered one serving of each out of curiosity. Because why the hell not? Happy Sunday and all that.
The cook didn't trust it.
Welcome to Luke's!
Today's Specials:
Bacon and Corn Griddle Cakes
Lamb Tikka with Curried Cauliflower Pancakes
Sweet Pizza Pancakes
Kanan had no regrets. Even if the cook insisted that he could eat that pizza pancake without picking the pineapple off and eating it all first.

She heaved a big, suffering sigh before launching into, "She's smart and she's beautiful and her name is Pancakes and I love her and I would die for her and, here," Summer's phone went sliding across the counter, "I already took a million pictures, and just look at that face, and you tell me how you'd have been able to say no to that face."
no subject
"She's a very pretty cat, Summer," he replied, in that tone of voice that was absolutely not meant to convey 'told you so,' but really, he was pretty much just saying, 'told you so.' "And yeah, I can see how you'd have difficulty saying no to that face."
A pause.
"Pancakes?"
It was either a question about the name of the cat or an offer to place her order for today. She was welcome to choose either one.

"Because her fur is, like, the exact color of a perfectly cooked pancake," obviously, "but Kanan," and she used his name to convey the seriousness of the situation here, "this is bad. This is a slippery slope. I am a divorced woman," well, she never technically divorced Hemorrhage, she just sort of...left, but one could also argue, considering they were in a anarchic apocalypse where the only laws were those enforced by bloodshed and violence, were they ever really actually married in the first place?, "living alone, getting her first cat. I need you to promise me that the moment I even think about getting a third, you will step in with an intervention."
She was only eighteen! That was way too early to become a crazy cat lady! This was all happening so fast!

He would do no such thing.

Which, of course, made her realize that this did not account for what other kinds of pets she might find while she was out there, but....that was maybe a bridge they could cross when they reached it.
no subject
A pause.
"See how well that worked out for me."

Dammit, dog.

Maybe the rest of the Order would disagree. He didn't know. Wasn't like they were around.
"So, pick a day to go flying, yet?"
no subject
Ahem.
"Maaaaybe Tuesday? I mean, not much happens on Tuesday, except you taking one more step closer to your inevitable sugar-induced coma."

"Drinks are on me, then, when we get back," Summer offered. "I can do early, definitely. And as far as where, I was thinking about that a little bit, too. You really got me hooked on the nebula idea, something good and scenic. What do you think about the Archeon Nebula? The encyclopedia said that's where stars were born."
And that was just the sort of thing to make her go ooooh.
"That, or Vulpinus. That looked like it was the furthest one out."
Which could be cool in a different way.

Once again, something nudging him back towards Lothal. He looked faintly bemused for a moment.
"Vulpinus is tempting too," he admitted, "but I at least have a passing familiarity with Archeon. I bet we could find a great place to just sit and watch it from."
It was breathtaking, Summer. Absolutely mind-blowing.

"Let's do that, then," she said. "I'm sure there'll be plenty of opportunity for other ones later, too."

Plopped down on a seat at the counter and squinted up at the menu. "Am I going to make the cook cry when I order regular pancakes with bacon stacked between 'em?" Jack asked, "Because that and coffee."
A beat.
"Please. Coffee now though."
no subject
He would not.
"Hey, Jack. How goes it?"
no subject
A beat.
"At some point. To go running with."
Not so much with the stealing, really.

She put the hands to better use cupping her coffee and taking a drink. "Maybe it'll convince the goddamn masochist that I don't need to join him in his pre-dawn hellish running hobby. When the fuck did he turn into a morning person and what drugs do I gotta get my hands on to turn him back into the night owl he used to be? Goddamn."
no subject
Afternoon running was where it was at, clearly.

When she looked up, she added, "Any of those little fuckers bites me, that little fucker's gonna die. Probably not even on purpose. Shit's inside me and I wouldn't drink that blood." Then a muttered, "It is cold as hell, and dark, and windy, and damp. It's gross."
no subject
no subject
She probably wouldn't.
