The Perk- Monday morning

It seemed to be becoming tradition that before she left to go home, Jaina headed to the Perk in the time between checking out if the hotel and getting to her portal. And now that she was her real damn height and could drink coffee without drowning, she was taking advantage of it, and sending a text to her grandfather: Getting coffee, there's something I want to ask you about. Yes I'm normal sized, shut up.

And maybe checking her comm to see if Jag had left any messages. He hadn't, but he'd gotten evidence that she'd been... indisposed, and he'd be kind enough to leave her to it right up until she got home. She sort of rathered he'd just tease from afar sometimes.

Anakin wandered in about fifteen minutes later, smiling. "So, do you want my action shots from the weekend?"

[solo_sword]

"No," she said firmly, "we're never speaking if it again."

She could say that! Didn't make it true!

Anakin laughed. "Keep telling yourself that," he said. "I still make fun of Luke for that gremlin bite where he thought he was a magician."

[solo_sword]

"The difference is that that was great," she pointed out.

She still had a copy of it. Had she shown her Ben what was on it? Yep.

"Teeny tiny you was pretty great, too," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"You know what else was great? Friday," Jaina said pointedly. It was both a subject change for her ego and because she had an actual reason for all this.

[sith_happened]

"Yes?" Anakin said, getting his giant black coffee and sitting down.

[solo_sword]

"Yeah. I got to catch up with people, and meet a teenage Sith no one warned me about..."

Things like that!

"Whoops," Anakin said.

WHOOPS WAS NOT AN APOLOGY.

[solo_sword]

"Whoops?" she repeated.

[sith_happened]

"Sorry," Anakin muttered. "I should've told you. She's....very confusing."

[solo_sword]

"Sith who think worry me more than the ones who just want to fight me," Jaina said flatly.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "She's in my diplomacy class."

[solo_sword]

"And what's that like?"

Both having her there, and being him having her there.

[sith_happened]

"Really, really weird," Anakin said. "She's from a time much before ours, but...Sith. I keep waiting for her to get angry and try to kill everyone."

[solo_sword]

"She doesn't seem the mass murder type. Maybe the type to pick out which ones really deserve it. I'm not used to that," she said.

[sith_happened]

"Yes, I have my eye on her," Anakin said, "but I'm afraid if I push it too hard she'll snap and I can't exactly tell her about my expertise in this area."

[solo_sword]

"She seemed really annoyed when I was asking her questions." To be fair, Jaina also didn't have tact, as a general rule. "I'm a little surprised it took this long to happen."

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "I look every picnic and half-expect a small Emperor."

[solo_sword]

"That never even occurred to me," Jaina said, making a face. "I guess until now we've lucked out just having family shenanigans."

Which were sometimes traumatizing, but she'd come to like having them in general.

[sith_happened]

Anakin nodded. "It could always be worse," was his super-optimistic contribution.

[solo_sword]

"We could somehow be related to a tiny emperor who takes your class?" Jaina tried.

[sith_happened]

"That would be terrifying," Anakin said immediately.

[solo_sword]

"I'd kick him out immediately."

By which she meant she, personally, would boot him off the planet, if no one else got to it first, and no one got to argue about it.

[sith_happened]

"I've done something similar before," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

Jaina frowned. "Oh?"

[sith_happened]

"It's been years," Anakin said, "but if someone's threatening the safety of the students, I take that seriously."

[solo_sword]

"Good thing it's your job," she said with a tiny smile, toasting him with her coffee cup.

[sith_happened]

Anakin toasted her back. "Much better than my last one."
