Luke's Diner, Saturday

He'd woken up this morning. That was a good start.

It had gone downhill from there.

The phone that had woken him up told him he needed to be here at the diner, so he'd thrown on some clothes and shown up.

Okay, now what?

There were several guys milling around in the place that seemed as confused as he was and had all had the same experience, more or less.

One of them shrugged. "I know how to cook, so I guess I'll just do that?"

"I do, too," he pointed out.

"Great! We'll figure something out."

He nodded. "I'll make coffee."

Hey, some things didn't change.

Today's specials:
Anything we know how to make.
Anybody know what's going on?

Luke's was open!

Walking a dog with the pretense of trying to figure your shit out was a good way to work up an appetite, and there was money in the wallet she'd found with the 'Rosa Diaz' ID in it, so she figured she'd might as well stop and get some food...and possibly some more information.

"Hope it's cool to bring dogs in here," she said, walking inside in a way that made it very clear that she didn't care if it was cool or not, she and her dog were coming in. And she eyed the guy behind the counter, hoping for a flash of recognition or anything, really, getting nothing, and then looked around the diner a little.

Nope. Still nothing.

"What's good here?"

Rosa watched for a moment as the dog almost instantly put her nose to the floor, on the hunt for some shoes to lick, no doubt, and then moved to have a seat at the counter. "I wouldn't even know what to ask about," she admitted. "We'd probably have just as much luck grabbing random things and hoping they're food."

And yet she knew there would be food. Amnesia was weird.

"Sure, why not?" Rosa shrugged. "Seems like a good kind of day to try new things."

Considering how completely everything was apparently a new thing.
died8yearsago: (yup that sounds about right)

"You got any hot leaf water?" Rosa called back, mostly joking. "I don't know, surprise me! What goes good with a hamburger?"
died8yearsago: (damn amused)

Rosa snorted a little and almost thought about sending the poor guy to go do it. But then she'd be stuck with literal leaves in water, which she felt she would have to drink, just as a point of pride.

"Nah, don't worry about it," she called back. "I'm sure that first one you said is fine."

"Thanks," Rosa said, nodding as the burger was set down and, yup, it looked like food, alright, and it smelled good, too, so things seemed to be heading in the right direction. "And I have no clue, and it's not just me. Everyone else I've talked talked to today seems to be going through the same thing. Can't remember who they are, where they are, what they're doing here..."

She paused, considering him over a bite. "Except a few weirdos who still knew where they were working today, apparently."

Said the might-be-a-cop literally investigating right now."

My latest theory? Some sort of memory loss has, maybe something in the water."

Inspired purely by her subconscious, which was apparently a pretty interesting place.

Which meant she probably wasn't going to get any information out of him, either.

At least he wasn't off about the food, though, she thought, as she ruminated over another bite.

"You figure out at least a name?"

Or maybe eight?
