It was Thursday and it was Valentine's Day and since she had blown off class on Monday she was blowing off her office hours as well. She'd asked some of the sword boys to come to the park and show off for her and at least two had definitely agreed and one more might show his ass up if he got his lazy bum out of bed in time. She'd banged on a few doors on Floor Four and loudly announced where she was going and why as an invitation of sorts.

She'd hit up Kanan's warehouse and borrowed an armful of his practice swords both metal and bamboo by stuffing them into a duffel bag. For a value of 'borrowed' that meant she hadn't asked but she totally meant to return them before he noticed they were gone. Eh. He was going to be busy today anyway. An item in his warehouse made her snicker quite a bit but she wasn't mean enough to spoil that surprise so she left it alone.

A stop by the Perk to collect a party-sized container of coffee and some cups saw her with enough caffeine to share and then she was off to the park. The practice swords were set out. She parked her ass on a bench with her first coffee of the day and waited. Relaxing back against the bench and enjoying the weather and sunshine.

It was going to be a great day. She could just tell.

"That's more useful for me than Soresu," Jack bobbed her head in a nod. "I don't have the patience for that at all."

She smiled and took the strawberry, "Hey, thanks! Present from someone you don't like?" Then it hit her. "Oh. Right. Solids. Sorry. Kaidan said."

Peter laughed. "Yeah, present from my newest employee, who rightfully guessed I might not appreciate flowers, but unfortunately landed on food. She's sweet, and she didn't know."

He shrugged. "Speaking of which, I appreciate the warning about sun, by the way, but I'm fine with it, obviously." Since it was full daylight out now.

Jack threw him a lopsided grin, "Well hey. I didn't know and now I do. Is there any wacky shit I should look out for if it happens again?"

Shook her head a little. "Fuck, man, if someone had told me 2 years ago that I'd be tryin' to keep people from doing shit they'd regret.."

It was a little funny.

Peter gave her a little smile. "I do appreciate it. As far as wacky, the worst that's happened so far is I tend not to speak English when I'm younger."

Jack tapped the skull behind her ear. "Universal translator. You won't be able to understand me but I'll understand you just fine."

"That sounds handy," Peter said. "It'd be nice to be understood, anyway."

Jack bobbed her head in a nod. "Kaidan's got one too. It's pretty standard birth procedure in our galaxy. Pop the suckers in before the bone's solidified."

"That sounds useful," Peter said. "I wonder if this world will ever get there."

"From what Kaidan's said, no. Reason they can do implants don't have to be yanked back out every few years is the batteries run on Eezo. Lasts longer than a human lifetime in something this small. No relays up there in the void, no Eezo, no sudden jump forward in human advancement," Jack shrugged, "But also: No fucking Reapers. Trust me it's better this way. You do not want those fuckers."

"I'll take your word for it," Peter said. "They sound nasty."

"Nasty," Jack agreed with a very sincere grimace, "They ate half the people in the fucking galaxy before we stopped them." She grimaced again, "Not hyperbole. Pure fucking numbers."

Peter winced. "I think we can definitely pass on them."
