The Park on Thursday
It was Thursday and it was Valentine's Day and since she had blown off class on Monday she was blowing off her office hours as well. She'd asked some of the sword boys to come to the park and show off for her and at least two had definitely agreed and one more might show his ass up if he got his lazy bum out of bed in time. She'd banged on a few doors on Floor Four and loudly announced where she was going and why as an invitation of sorts.
She'd hit up Kanan's warehouse and borrowed an armful of his practice swords both metal and bamboo by stuffing them into a duffel bag. For a value of 'borrowed' that meant she hadn't asked but she totally meant to return them before he noticed they were gone. Eh. He was going to be busy today anyway. An item in his warehouse made her snicker quite a bit but she wasn't mean enough to spoil that surprise so she left it alone.
A stop by the Perk to collect a party-sized container of coffee and some cups saw her with enough caffeine to share and then she was off to the park. The practice swords were set out. She parked her ass on a bench with her first coffee of the day and waited. Relaxing back against the bench and enjoying the weather and sunshine.
It was going to be a great day. She could just tell.
[Open! If you think you heard her this morning you definitely did and also open to anyone heading by or through the park. Sword boys gonna sword for her amusement and education.]

... Yes, even that one.
"Seemed like the thing to do."
no subject
Yeah, that one.
Jack was terrible.

"I'm sure those ones won't last long," he mused.
He was not incorrect.
"So ungrateful, some people."
no subject
Sorry, Fjord.
no subject
"Guess we'll find out tomorrow." A pause while he glanced around for squirrels. "Ain't all I gave her."

She cackled more because she knew he did. "Aw, fuck, Fjord! I can just see the cat's arse her face must have made at that useless weapon!"

Jack lost it and spent some time just laughing herself to tears. When she surfaced and wiped her eyes she advised, "Make sure you bring your roommate with you. He doesn't look the sort to put up with that bullshit."
no subject
Just like that.
"... Yeah, I'll be bringing Fenris if it comes to that."
FUCK.
no subject
She glanced at Fenris and back to Fjord, "The squirrels just being their usual dickish selves or are you two..?" Their body language was all sorts of wrong for it but what the fuck did she even know.
no subject
Because really.
And then he followed her glance. And paused. And frowned a little.
"Wait, what are the squirrels saying? We're friends. We live in a hotel room that happens to have one bed, and neither of us are fans of sleeping on the floor if we don't have to."
no subject
She made a face. "The memory thing? The squirrels were being dicks and trying to make a thing about people waking up with people they didn't know and the little fuckers implied heavily that everyone waking up that way was together. They're dicks. Wouldn't be a thing if you were but that's not the vibe I'm gettin'."
no subject
Other priorities. No interest in romance.

"I mean, that said, if, ah, if your new best friend happens to get the impression that we are, I'm not going to disabuse her of that misconception again."
It was easier that way, and Fenris had already more or less thrown himself on that grenade anyway.
no subject
She eyed Fenris critically. "I mean, look at that chiseled bastard. That'd intimidate most goddamn people."
no subject
"The armor says a thing or two, as well."
And the giant fuck-off sword.
He wasn't too impressed with the muscle. But: Half-orc. And a little on the svelte side for one, but still easily more built than most people on the island.
no subject
Thumbs down. Both thumbs. "No contest. He's way hotter."
She looked at Fenris again. "It's real goddamn stupid, Fjord. You think people'd see it. Not that you did but if you did? It's because you'd see him as your fucking equal. Armor, swords, and one badass motherfucker don't need you to save him or him to save you but someone'd fight right the fuck beside you, you know?"
For Jack, that was a deep thought right there about relationships.

"It is good, knowing who here has my back," he replied, nodding faintly. "He's gone at people for my sake before. Never asked him to. It was..." He smiled wryly. "... It was appreciated."

Gods only knew how the hell he would have gotten by on the island between his arrival and when he'd met Beau if not for meeting that damn elf.

Always good to know these things. Pick out the good people. Wheat and chaff and all that.
