Luke's Diner, Saturday
Iceland had been nice, but back in Fandom was nice, too. Miguel was more or less happy to be back.
Somewhat bewildered today, but nice.
"Did one of you get your jaw wired shut?"
The cook just gave him a look.
"What? Why else would you be stuck on totally liquid food?"
"It's Spring!" explained the busboy.
"...That makes no...you know what? That's totally fair. You do you. I'm getting coffee."

The fact that she wanted to avoid punching Tightpants in the guts if it came down to it, though, pretty much told her everything she needed to know.
Not to mention all the other...stuff.
"Hey," she said, coming into the diner, leaning forward a little on the counter.

Not if she could help it!

"That is way too much soup," she said, looking almost personally insulted by it.
She'd broken up with people over too much soup before.
...too much being twice.

It made no sense. He was tired of arguing.
He set the coffee down in front of her. "How's the first week back?"

"Spring doesn't even start until later in March!" Rosa protested, especially since she really had come in here determined to not want to punch anyone, but they were really testing her on that one.
So the kitchen was receiving a glare before Rosa grunted to answer the question and pull the coffee closer. "And it's been fine," she said, "I guess. Once you get over the fact that the troopers decided the best way to fill me in on what I missed while we were in Iceland would be through musical song and dance."
But at least she could take comfort in the fact that, obviously, she wasn't the only one in the diner right now stuck working with complete idiots.

She realized then that this supposed to-go coffee would pretty much be gone if they got sucked into banter, which would be fine, except that she'd told herself she was coming in with a mission, get it done, then get out of there.
So. Back on track.
"Anyway," she said, "I won't keep you from all that soup for long. I just came in because I wanted to tell you something."

Rosa sighed, noted to herself that this would be a really great spot for a quick insult-and-run, but no. Had to treat these things like ripping off a band-aid, because otherwise, she'd just be stuck &i>thinking about it more, and, ugh. She hated thinking about how dumb having emotions was almost as much as she hated having them in the first place.
So.
"We just spent pretty much a whole week," which was practically a year in Rosa Standard Time, "together, and I came out of it not completely hating your face or wanting to punch you."
And, maybe, just maybe, a few times this week, she'd even kind of missed it. Not that she'd mention that because, gross. People were supposedly trying to eat in here.
"I didn't even think about throwing myself out a bus window or trying to escape through the air vents," both very much things she'd done...and often, "once...."
She was still in a state of mild disbelief about the whole thing.
"I actually really like you. We should make this a whole," she gestured, vaguely, "thing. Like, officially."
Oh, yeah. She totally crushed it on this whole romance thing.
Ugh. Why was it so embarrassing having feelings?

"Official how?"
What did that mean, Rosa?

He lifted his hands in surrender. "Just trying to make it easier. I get not wanting to talk, but if it's an official thing, I want to know what I'm getting into. You want exclusive, meeting-the-family, or just being able to assume we've got dates for all the stupid school things coming up?"
no subject
"I don't know," she said. "Somewhere in between. We can kind of figure that stuff out as we go along. Or we can both just agree that I was clearly bitten by a gremlin in my way over here and never speak of this again."

"Yeah, well," she said, "I don't think we need to worry about that sort of thing for a while, anyway."
She was definitely in no rush for any sort of Meet the Parents scenario any time soon.
"Anyway," she said again, after a pause that threatened to make this all awkward again, straightening up and reaching for her wallet get some money to pay for her coffee. "That's it. That's all I came in here for."

She paused, considering not so much her own stomach as she was someone else's fists.
"Would you beat them up even if they didn't try to stop you?"
Punching someone to get her a burger would be pretty romantic right now, all things considered.

"I'm good, then," Rosa said, smirking a little as she left some money for the coffee. "Thanks, though. Wanna come over later
