Syndulla Scrap, Friday

Whatever had been up with those rats yesterday, today was fairly normal for the island. Or at least for the scrapyard. The piles of new things outside were not getting sorted due to the rain, Chopper was resolutely inside the Ghost due to the rain, and the bitey bits were jumping up and biting at the rain.

Hera was just going to sit inside and do the books while sipping a coffee.

She really needed to find another job back home.

Meanwhile, Syndulla Scrap was open!

It hadn't been raining when Sabine went to her warehouse, but now it was, and she really didn't feel like walking all the way back to the dorms. Maybe there was something to do inside here for a while?

"Hera?"

Hera looked up. "Hi, Sabine! How are you today? Coffee?"

"Sure, Thanks," she said, coming in. "I'm good. Unexpectedly wet."

Which went much of a problem aside from her hair, still, ugh.

Hera found another mug and poured her some along with a sympathetic smile. "At least it's warmer than it was. This place gets awfully cold."

"I don't mind the cold as long as it ends," Sabine said, and paused. "I maybe mind it more after the snow monsters, now that I think about it."

"They were certainly something," Hera agreed. "Not as bad as some other winters, from what Kanan's said, but I wasn't exactly a fan, either."

"I can't blame you," Sabine said, thinking about it. "I'm also realizing I've almost been here long enough to see all the seasons."

How had that happened?

"They're definitely different, too," Hera said. "This place's climate is bizarre."

"Not what you're used to?" Sabine asked. It wasn't like she'd done any real checking into the climate on Ryloth.

Hera smiled wryly. "I'm mostly used to space. Not a lot of climate there. I haven't stayed very long on any one planet in a while."

"Work to be done and all?" Sabine herself hadn't had enough time to really get used to stuff like that, bouncing around and getting used to space.

"Always work, always someplace else to be." Hera shrugged.

"How'd you end up here?" Sabine wondered.

Hera gave a little smile. "Kanan. We met on a mission, and he knew we could lay low here, so I came back with him."

"And you've been partners and roommates ever since?"

She didn't entirely buy the roommates thing, but if that's what they were going with, then hey, it wasn't her business.

"Well, he declared himself my crew and refused to leave, so pretty much," Hera answered with a fond smile.

"I don't remember him telling me that," Sabine smiled, "even if it seems about right."

"Ever asked him?" Hera pointed out.

"Not specifically," Sabine said, thinking about it. We've talked about why he does all this. Not so much about him bitching himself to you."

Hera shook her head. "He does all this because he wants to. I just helped him figure that out."
