Trooper Station, Friday

Liam's mood was decidedly more chipper as he made it in to the station today.

Listen, his stuff had finally all been moved over to the apartment, he and Verity were in a far better place than they had been last week, even the voice in his head that had been at the center of all that drama in the first place.

So of course as soon as he got in to the station, he got an egg to the face.

"Gah! Wha-"

"It's been happening all morning, boss," Ralph said, sounding resigned. Liam looked over and sure enough, the Trooper's armor was liberally splattered with raw egg. "Frankly, I preferred the shoes."

"Better eggs than knives, I guess," Liam pointed out wryly. At least egg was supposedly good for your hair, or something?

Jack rocked in to the Trooper Station and sidestepped an egg. "Whoa! What the fuck? Which of you little fuckheads threw that?! Liam! Your fucking troopers threw an egg at me!"

"No they didn't," Liam sighed. "The station did. It's been doing it all day."

Hence the egg-wash he was currently sporting in his hair.

Jack was still side-eyeing the troopers suspiciously. ".. well, good, at least it's not just me," Jack said after a minute. "Got a thing to ask of you."

“Yeah?” Liam raised an eyebrow, curious. “What’s up?”

"The class I'm doin', I'm trying to get them to realize what's involved in altercations with the police," Jack began, adding, "Non-violent ones, from like protests and stuff. I've been pushing the 'don't talk to cops, ask for a lawyer' thing. I'd like to do a project to show 'em what it's like before they ever have to think about dealing with the real thing."

Shrugged. "I'd like you to take my whole class in for questioning on Monday. Give a fake scenario but real treatment, try to get them to talk to you and tell you what they know. They shouldn't, but they're kids - and you're not the kind of asshole cop they're likely to encounter in the mainland so you're less likely to traumatize them."

“I’d hope not,” Liam said. “Hell, I’m barely used to thinking of myself as a cop at all, to be honest,” he admitted. “But you’re right, practical experience is a good idea.”

"Well for the purposes of my class, it'd be great if you could pretend," Jack huffed a laugh. "It won't always be in a controlled setting and it won't always be someone who's not a grade-A asshole but if they can start thinking and learn to keep their wits about 'em, they should do ok."

Hopefully they'd never find themselves in the clutches of anyone like Liam's father; that was a fate he wouldn't wish on his worst enemy.

(That his father had been, more often than not, his worst enemy was beside the point.)

(... Also, okay, scratch that, he'd absolutely be fine with anyone from the Covenant of St. George ending up in the clutches of someone like Ronald Sandoval.)

"I appreciate the assessment of my character, at least." He grinned.

"Kaidan trusts you," Jack shrugged, "and I read the radio and haven't read anything about you being a dick to anyone."

Another egg came out of nowhere. Jack caught it with Stasis and then gently lowered it to the desk. "Look, now you have lunch."
