Luke's Diner, Saturday
Miguel walked into the diner and held up a hand. "Nope."
"But -"
"NO. St. Patrick's Day is tomorrow. If you want to terrorize someone with it, try the Sunday guy."
"But you're the Irish one!"
"Part Irish. Which just means I don't have to wear green, and I still get to punch anyone pinching me, so don't try it. And I'm doing the cooking today."
Today's Specials
Spicy beef and cheese empanadas
Carnitas with tortillas, lettuce, tomato, sour cream, and hot sauce
Churros
Luke's was open! The cook was sulking.

She'd considered the idea of bringing him along for about two-point-five seconds (she didn't know how it was in Future-World, but, where she was from, Tightpants was clearly an Irish name), but that was crazy, because that was top-tier, above even meeting parents. She definitely wasn't ready to deal with that.
"Hey, Tightpants," she called out when she came in, in case he was back in the kitchen doing his whole cooking thing, and she put her helmet on the counter as point that she wasn't planning on staying long, but see how that worked out for her last time. "I need some food for the road."

She gave the package a look of cool appraisal before reaching for her wallet. "Thanks, Tightpants. I guess that'll work."

He rang her up and hooked a thumb at the coffee pot. "Coffee to go?"
