The Onsen - Tuesday afternoon.
After a morning practicing sword forms, Kaidan headed to the Onsen for some relaxing in the hot water. He was not prepared for the chickens.
There were chickens of all shapes and sizes, some very tiny and some the size of large dogs. Strutting around or sitting on the warm rocks, they were on every surface except the water itself.
Kaidan blinked and laughed a little. "Ok, well. Sure. Sharing the hot spring with some birds. Why not." He stepped carefully through the poultry until he could sink into the water. One of the chickens, a fluffy little Silkie, came bobbing over while making little churbling noises. It clearly wanted attention. Or it was worried he was going to drown, one of those. Kaidan tentatively held a dry hand out and the chicken scooted under it immediately. He offered very gentle petting/scritches and the chicken made some contented little noises. Stepping from side to side, it eventually sank down and fluffed out, eyes half-closed with happiness and tilting its head to get the scritches exactly where it wanted them.
There were worse ways to spend his time. It was oddly relaxing, the almost purring noises the chicken was making.

Once she got there, though, she sort of stopped and took a moment to take note of Kaidan. Take note of the chickens. Take note of the hot water.
"...I really hope this isn't some attempt to make chicken soup," she noted.
Mostly joking.
...she'd seen some weird stuff in her short lifetime, man.

"Doesn't seem to be," Kaidan said, "They seem to be avoiding the actual water. Hey, Summer. How've you been?"
no subject
"Better now," she said, "although pretty good overall. Been keeping busy, which is probably a good thing for everyone. How about you? We haven't had much of a chance to run into each other for a while, it seems."

now that the mun can actually ping around, "been a while, there. How goes things?"Please, enjoy the large green man smiling a (slightly tusky) smile in your direction, Summer. Happy Tuesday!
no subject
"Fjord!" Summer smiled brightly back. "It has been a while, hasn't it? Things've been going good. Really good, actually. Keeping myself busy, all that good stuff."
Too busy, apparently.
"How about with you?"
Did he...had he always been a little tusky like that? She thought she would have remembered him being a little tusky. But, apparently, she couldn't remember if he'd been a little tusky before...

"Why are there chickens?"
no subject
"You've lived here longer than I have, man, you tell me," Kaidan grinned back at him. "They're not in the water, just sort of hanging out in here. They seem friendly enough."

He made a halfhearted effort to shoo a few out of his way as he made his way to the water himself.

The... the chickens were an unexpected addition to the onsen today, though.
"... The hell?"
Okay, an afternoon with Kaidan, Summer, and some wet birds. Still relaxing, probably.

"Chickens," Kaidan shrugged, "Your guess is as good as mine. Just another day on this island. How've you been, Fjord?"
no subject
Well... at least it wasn't cats. Fjord shrugged, and then stepped into the water.
"Same as usual, I suppose," he replied. "Still doing plenty of work at the forge for Amaya. Still pouring drinks at the bar on Fridays. Seem to have a few regulars there now, which is... kinda nice, actually."
A bunch of people who were there just as much for his company as for their ale? It was... kind of novel, really.
"And you?"

Mostly. A couple kept edging back his way from time to time and giving him Looks.

"Miguel," Fjord greeted with a nod, smirking faintly as he watched the chickens crowd right back on in. "I see you've got some fans, there."

"Hernando," Fjord replied, nodding back. "Can't complain. My class has been doing pretty decently, the island's been... more or less behaving."
He had more cereal than he'd be able to eat in his life.
"And yourself?"

And... that was Fjord, blinking as warm water ran down his chest. And then smirking faintly and sending a little splash right back.
"Jack," he greeted. "Hey, how the hell are you?"

He was a little surprised to see how busy it was. Sidestepping the poultry with the practiced ease of someone who'd grown up in a city where random chickens were a common sidewalk hazard, he slipped into the water next to Kaidan. Bumped shoulders with him and asked, "Kaidan, how are you?"
no subject
Kaidan smiled and shoulder-bumped him right back. "'Nando. I'm well, how are you doing?"

It was busy, that wasn't news. Kaidan was actually relaxing and that was news. Hernando was all but cuddled up against one of Kaidan's meaty shoulders so Jack appropriated Kaidan's other side, carefully stepping over the chicken he was petting. She made sure to splash Hernando right in the face when she got in the water.
"Look at you," she cooed mockingly at Kaidan, "Taking some actual time for some actual self-care! Who even are you? Do I need to start searching for a brick-shithouse-shaped pod somewhere in your building? Or maybe just burn the whole damn thing down just to be sure?"
Hi. She loved you, really.

Another one tried to get closer to him and he held out a warning finger, talon out.
It side-eyed him, then nibbled his fingertip.
