The Park, Friday
The weather was too damn nice to spend today cooped up in a warehouse.
The weather? Was too. Damn. Nice to spend today cooped up in a warehouse.
And so Kanan was making his way to the park, leaving a note on the warehouse door for any of his regulars, telling them where they could find him. He'd even brought Stance along today, because why spend a day in the park if he wasn't going to bring his dog, who would have just been making sad faces at him from his apartment window anyway if he hadn't.
It all made for some adventures in meditating that morning, sure, with an excited dog ripping around the lawn, re-discovering ducks and needing to be called back a few times in order to keep from having a repeat of the mobbing incident from last year.
On the flipside, it made things much easier in the afternoon once he'd broken out and assembled his lightsaber, since Stance was good and tuckered out and had taken to napping next to Kanan's bag of water bottles and assorted practice weapons while Kanan ran through forms.
He'd missed this.

Ring, ring!

'A little late' was generally cause for concern, but she was also actually calling instead of just texting, so maybe it all came out in the wash? Either way, he was going to go for 'happy to hear from you' instead of 'worried as hell like always,' because on occasion Kanan could actually police his tone!
He was kind of proud of that, too.

She even sounded fine!
no subject
She might even hear excited barking in the background as Stance noticed the ducks. Again.
"But busy, huh? Find something good today?"

Apparently when you worked on a ship for months and didn't try to leave on it, you could be trusted not to steal other ships.
(For now.)
"I really shouldn't have him catch me with the phone, though."
no subject
"So this is going to be a short chat, huh?" Kanan's tone was sympathetic, now. "But at least basic maintenance is work, huh?"
Better than scavenging?
Hopefully?
no subject
But she also missed being on a ship, even if it was junk.

Kanan glanced up from where he was meditating, and once again offered Lana a nod and a little bit of a smile.
Stance was gonna be the one to steal the show, though, about-facing and coming barreling over to greet her.

"They're terribly unfair," Kanan called over with a grin. "You'd think they'd know that Stance time is playtime by now."

She reached out with the Force and grabbed a stick, then brought it to her hand, brandished it for a moment, and threw it.

Kanan grinned a little.
"Just please don't throw it into the pond," he called. "I don't want to have to clean him off later if I can avoid it!"

Breq remembered to smile as she approached Kanan, stopping to kneel down to greet Stance.

"Sure am," Kanan agreed, grinning a bit as Stance came trotting over to say hello. "It'd be a shame to stay cooped up inside all the time. Stance would be sad, for starters."

"Yeah, they kind of grow on you," Kanan chuckled. "I never intended to keep a dog, but I've been stuck with this guy since the day he arrived, and I'm not complaining."
no subject
The idea was amusing.

"Space knows I didn't get a choice," Kanan chuckled. "That said, that doesn't mean it happens to everybody."

Kanan was meditating. Stance was playing with the ducks. Jack grinned evilly. She knew Kanan would feel her getting closer. That didn't stop her from bellowing cheerfully, "I'm stealing your dog!" as she ran through, "C'mon Stance! C'mon buddy, let's go for a run! Let's play chase! Those ducks are boring, come play with me!"

Kanan... made a minorly disgruntled noise, though he was smirking as he opened his eyes to see his dog taking off after Jack on a tear.
"Hey! You run him through the pond, you get to bathe him after," he called.

"Good luck making that stick," Kanan replied with a laugh. "But hey, clean dog? Sounds like a win to me!"

Well, he leapt to clear it, then picked up a jog alongside her.
