Community Center Class: Modern Earth Entertainment, Monday

Peter had gathered that this was an odd weekend, and wasn't sure if it would be over today or not, but he had a movie ready regardless. There were popcorn, chips, drinks, and a film.

Hopefully people would at least be amused by it.

Eat the snacks, talk amongst yourselves

The elusive Rosa bad yet to make an appearance, causing Sonia to gain a little hope that maybe this crazy plan of staying here instead of returning to Colombia might actually work. And, to engrained herself in this town maybe a little bit more, she stopped by the community center to see what she could find out.

There was apparently a movie class being held tonight, and that seemed a great way to meet people. So she decided to check it out. The red dress, which she couldn't exactly just keep wearing now matter how much she might want to, was replaced with a black dress that was just as saucy and clingy, with an added addition of one of the many available leather jackets, a nice knee, without any blood on it, making Sonia likely look a bit more like her supposed sister than she'd intended.

Snacks were good, too, and Sonia was frugal in her selections, not wanting to seem too greedy, as she looked around curiously to see who else came to these movie classes.

"Hi there." Peter smiled, but didn't say anything else, not sure if this was Rosa or not.

And the nervous awkwardness that overtook Sonia as she nodded back should have helped answer that one for him. "Hello," she said, with the accent probably sealing the deal. "Are you here for the movie class, too?"

If so? Good idea showing up, Sonia. Very good idea, indeed.

"Sort of," Peter answered, smiling. "It's my class." He held out his hand. "Peter Octavian."

So, there was an echidna at the snack table today.

There was a large, anthropomorphic, bright red, buff echidna at the snack table today.

And he was absolutely helping himself to basically all the popcorn he could lift.

And considering just how tough he was? That was a lot of popcorn, folks.

...Sonia had seen a lot of very disturbing large critters in her life back in Colombia, she'd even had to fight a few of them off herself with a shoe or a broom, but this one at the snack table right now was reaching a whole new level of experience for her and was giving her significant second thoughts about potentially getting more popcorn.

And it was somehow (not the waking up in a mystery apartment with a mystery naked man, not the woman with the baby who maybe walked right through a door) the first moment Sonia was starting to have second thoughts about this whole 'staying here in this town as long as she can' plan she'd concocted, too.

She looked around a little to see if anyone else saw the large red bipedal...she wasn't even entirely sure what...to try to determine if this was normal or they should chase it off before got into too much of the food.

And this particular one was noticing a pair of eyes on him, turning a friendly grin Sonia's way, and then waving hello with a gloved hand that was all wound up in sports tape.

"Heya! Great day for a movie, right?"

Any day could be a great day for a movie, so long as there was enough action in it to keep Knuckles interested.

Oh, God. It talked.

It might seem, however, that Sonia didn't, because she really could only just stare for a moment, because she may have actually forgotten how to talk.

But she eventually came around to something that wasn't just pure, confused shock, blinked, and said. "Yes, I--"

That was about as far as she seemed able to go, stopped, shook her head, and just concluded with, "Yes, it...is."

Knuckles was juuust about to start worrying about her, really, before she managed words. At which point, his entire expression lit up, and he gave an enthusiastic fistpump that probably would have looked right at home alongside one of Sidon's.

"Right on! I hope there's plenty of action in this one. What's the point of movies without action, right?"

Sonia opened her mouth to say something, but her brain seemed to stop her, still not quite ready to completely give up on the fact that she was talking to a large red bipedal monotreme, and that should not be a thing.

But she pushed past her brain a little with a strange sort of numbness to it all as she tried again, with something she figured was...relevant? Without having to deal with the fact that she was about to engage in a discussion with a large talking creature.

"I met a man yesterday who is a star in many action movies."

Or so he told her, anyway.

"Oh, right on! Any really good ones?"

For the record, Knuckles wouldn't recognize any of them. At all.

But he'd still think it was pretty great.

"I didn't get many of their titles," Sonia admitted, especially since she probably wouldn't have recognized any of them herself. "But he said he was filming one called Action Doctor."

Knuckles gave that title all the consideration he felt it was due.

"... Is that doctor a mad sciencey type?"

He had experience with those.

...Sonia hadn't even thought of that possible angle, and she blinked a little as she considered it.

"I don't know," she admitted. "I didn't think to ask. I just assumed...it meant he worked in a very busy emergency room."

There was a slight pause before she added, "Maybe with bombs?"

"The emergency room has bombs?"

Actually, that did sound exciting. Knuckles was duly impressed.

"Okay, I'd watch that."

"Enjoying the food?" Peter asked.

Pretend it's not a hot mess.

Heeey, Knuckles could totally get behind this story! Those bird folks especially made a certain sort of (smashy) sense to him.

He was totally cheering and clapping along with basically anything they did, yes.

Hey, whoever this was, he was enjoying the movie; Peter wasn't about to say anything.

He's here! And himself, even.
