Devil's Nest - Wednesday
Jack showed up to a suspiciously full Devil's Nest. She squinted at the people, mostly women of varying ages but with a smattering of dudes who didn't seem to be creeping on them or making them uncomfortable. There was a certain joie de vivre and collegiality among them that made her itchy. All those good, wholesome vibes all up in her atmosphere. Gross.
"Do I want to know?" she muttered to Tiny while collecting keys. "Administrative Professional's Day," he muttered back, "Don't knock it, half this stuff is on one corporate tab or other. Happy Hours are a thing." She grunted, "As long as they tip well."
Was she hiding in the stock room longer than necessary to avoid all those happy, cheerful people? Yes. That's how she missed the DJ's arrival and setup. Right up until his voice boomed out through the sound system, "How are all you fiiiiine administrative professionals doing tonight?! You ready to paaartay!? I'm ready to paaaarTAY! Let's get this party started!"
A record scratch wubba-wubba-wubba noise and then came the dreaded lyrics..
Party rock is in the house tonight
Everybody just have a good time
And we gon' make you lose your mind
Everybody just have a good time
Party rock is in the house tonight
Everybody just have a good time
And we gon' make you lose your mind
We just wanna see you
Shake that!
Jack had more or less promised not to kill people unless absolutely necessary in defense of others. She very seriously began to wonder if this was a situation that would count. That song should count as assault. Sulking her way back to the bar, she began making a list of all the ways LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem was a hate crime, assault and verbal battery.
[Devil's Nest is Open! Happy Administrative Professional's Day!]
