Atlas Gym [Thursday afternoon]

Anakin had sensed a familiar presence returning while he was finishing up his graduation speech at the office, so he decided that his normal routine of school pickups and takeout could be delayed for a bit this afternoon.

He texted Rory about .the change in plans, then headed down to the gym, lightsaber strapped to his waist. He paused to send Atton a quick, Sparring? text and then headed inside, dropping his cloak in an overdramatic puddle, just like Obi-Wan had taught him a corner and started to warm up.

Even if Atton couldn't make it, there hadn't been an end-of-year invasion yet and it was leaving Anakin a little twitchy. A little weapons training was probably a good idea.

"Can you calm down at least five notches before we do this?" Atton asked, walking in with an easy swagger and two lightsabers clipped to his belt. "Because I can feel the antsy for miles."

"It's that time of year and we haven't been invaded by aliens yet," Anakin said. "It's weird."

But he did pull his anxiety way in from his Force sense.

"Welcome back."

"Thanks," Atton said dryly. "Mical breathed the words 'diplomatic assignment' near me, so..."

"Did you leave a you-shaped hole in the wall getting back here?" Anakin asked.

[suitably_heroic]

"I hate diplomatic assignments," Atton said, dropping his jacket on a nearby chair like a normal person. "Nobody ever lets me crack the skulls that need a good cracking, even when I ask diplomatically."

"Apparently 'why are you this stupid?' is not diplomatic," Anakin said, grinning. "Who knew?"

"I keep telling Mical I'm not the guy to go to for these kinds of assignments. He's the professional diplomat," Atton said, casually unclipping his lightsabers from his belt.

"Two, huh?" Anakin said, grinning. "I used to fight with two. I was much younger then."

[suitably_heroic]

Atton rolled his eyes. "That's because you don't know how to use them, so they gave you the kiddie lightsaber."

[sith_happened]

"I fought a Sith Lord with them, so I think I wasn't on training wheels at the time," Anakin said, snorting, "but sure, if that version makes you feel better..."

"Eh, who hasn't fought a Sith Lord these days?" Atton said.

Anakin laughed. "At least on this island, that's weirdly true," he admitted. "Think we should make t-shirts?"
