Blackstone Foundry and Forge, Wednesday
So, it had been a couple of weeks since the last time Fjord had been in to the forge, though he didn't figure he could be blamed much for that, all things considered. Last week had involved vampires... not-quite-vampires...
It had been a weird week. And so he was looking forward to jumping right in today to work on the rapier that had been really quite ignored for the last about-that-long, setting right to work on getting the heat in the forge just so. It felt like a good day for it, and he was grinning to himself as he worked the bellows.
Productive busy work was the best kind.

It was a good day for a lot of things. There was a lot to do, so that should please Fjord.
She came down, of course, with the usual two mugs of coffee, with the subtle suggestion of the full day she had planned for him inherent in the fact that his mug might be a little bigger than usual. "'Morning, Fjord," she said, handing it over to him and getting right down to it. "I've got quite the itenerary in mind for you today, so I hope you've come in looking to work."
As if he ever really had any other mode.

"Do I ever come in looking for anything else?"
Fjord couldn't read the narrative, nah, but they definitely seemed to be on relatively the same page.
"Plenty to catch up on this week, is there?"

And it was driving her crazy.
"Either way, though, I've got plans for the layout once the new anvil comes in, they're on the counter, if you want to take care of that while I'm out, that'd be greatly appreciated. If you have any trouble getting the anvil where they need to go, that's fine, too, I'll likely be able to get Yang to move 'em before class when she gets here."

Fjord listened intently, looking for the place where the anvil might go, glancing at his rapier-in-progress, and then... blinking and tilting his head a little.
"... Wait, weekly activities?"
He had never heard of such a creature.

Her head tilted a little as she regarded Fjord thoughtfully.
"We could probably move your schedule around a bit, if you wanted to have the chance to check it out," she offered. "Especially now that you've not got a class yourself, we've got a little more wiggle room there. I was actually wondering if you might be interested in coming and sitting in on my class, get a chance to brush up on your basics while I'm teaching the kids. And you can stick around from there, make a day out of it..."

Fjord gave a bit of a hum at that, looking thoughtful. He... wasn't completely sure what to make of the fish thing, but the rest...?
"Hell, why not? What day do you need me in for that, then? I ain't all that fussed about prizes anyway, but it sounds like it could be fun."

There were three of them and a TA and none of them were Beaker. Amaya was not in the least bit worried about it.
"And, oh, they're great, Fjord." She gained an easy, excited grin, with a small pump of her fist. "I love 'em. The spirit of competition, everyone," she used the term loosely, "eager to show of their skills and prove their mettle. And there's never a dull moment. If I remember correctly, last year, we even got to shoot Beaker from something. Not rightly sure what, a catapult, maybe a cannon? Doesn't really matter, can't go wrong with shooting involved, right? Worth a look, if anything, and it'll give you something to do for a change, too."
There was a slight pause as she tried to think back on particularly good ones from last year.
"Remember there was one with boats, too," she noted.

Fjord blinked up from his musings on the layout of the shop at that.
"... Boats?"
You know, he'd been sold before, but there was sold, and then there was sold.
"Well, hell. I'm in."

It would be just his luck that the one week he was working, there would be boats.
"No need to kick yourself about that," Fjord chuckled. "If there's no boats, there's no boats. Odds are it'll still be somethin' to behold, right?"
... Even if he was still a little iffy about the fish thing.

"Rafts are usually a little more complicated than that," Fjord noted with a chuckle, "but I suppose that's a start, anyway."
And really, paddling around on a board was better than nothing. Maybe? He'd been landlocked for so long he wasn't even sure anymore.

She was...very easily amused, really.
"It's something, alright," Amaya agreed. "But I've still got some time before I need to head down there. How about we start back up on that sword? Did you get a chance to work on it at all last week?"
She'd sort of been trying to eat troopers about this time last week, so the whole week and what might have happened during it was kind of a wash for her.

"Unfortunately, I did not," Fjord replied, a touch apologetically. "Wednesday was somethin' of an 'oh shit, somethin's happenin'' kind of day, and Thursday was a trip to the mainland. Throw down against some of those smart fuckers."
Kind of suck at it. But it had been fun.

And that was a simple truth that was perhaps a bit too truthful, and she shook her head. "I never thought I'd say this, but....I much preferred the first time I was a vampire over this one."
It was a whole lot shorter with a lot less mindless biting and a lot more just...showcasing her ample bosom with nearly back-breaking determination.
"But it's easy enough to pick up where we left off. You remember what a bevel is? We can pretty much start there."
