The Park, Friday Afternoon
So, Kanan was giving 'meditating outside' a try today. Which was an interesting exercise, all things considered. He had Stance out again, and was keeping an eye on him, so to speak, through the Force, as the dog-turned-deinonychus trotted around snuffling at everything he hadn't had a chance to investigate during class on Monday.
Kanan, meanwhile, was reaching out in the Force to make connections with whatever new, strange living things there were around here. He'd never in his life figured he'd be communing with playground equipment, but there you go. Every day a surprise, right? If that meant he was utterly unperturbed as insects that were entirely too large for most people's comfort scuttled nearby or even on him as he meditated... well. That meter-long centipede wasn't really hurting anything anyway.

And there was Kanan, ever so casually picking up whatever the weird thing was that was crawling over him and setting it to the side so that he could answer his phone.
"Rey," he greeted, sounding... pretty chill, really. It was hard not to be zen after communicating with playground equipment turned dinosaur, apparently. "How goes it?"

"Well," Kanan mused, "the island's a jungle right now and my dog's a dinosaur. So... not bored?"
Any week you could answer 'how about you' with 'not bored' was probably a good one. Maybe?
no subject
"Oh, is that all?" she said.

"I think the playground slide is hungry," Kanan noted, "but her shift as a slide ends in another hour and she doesn't want to disappoint the children."
There... weren't any children in the park. Playground equipment dinosaurs were strange, but dedicated.

"I'm sorry?"
no subject
"The playground," Kanan offered, "is also dinosaurs."
There was an awkward pause in turn, before he added, apologetically, "Fandom."
Just when you thought it couldn't get weirder, that was generally when weirder happened.

"The playground is dinosaurs. I'll send you a picture, I swear I'm not losing my mind here," Kanan offered.

Until then...

"I'll get that picture when we're done talking, then," Kanan promised. "You can try to pick out which dinosaur is Stance."
no subject
She also had a vague idea of what a dinosaur was, in that she'd seen part of
the meta forJurassic Park on TV once and did no further research.no subject
"I've been asking that every morning since Monday," Kanan offered. "Hell if I know for sure."

"Some things are bugs," Kanan offered. "There's a... I'm not sure what it is, but it's a meter long and has about a million legs, and its head is about as big as my fist."
So, kind of cute, by their galaxy's standards?

"You can, but I really don't have an answer for you," Kanan admitted. "The whole island is this way, for some reason. Just up out of nowhere."
It seemed pretty harmless so far, at least?

"I'll try to get Stance to go down the tail-slide and I'll send you video," Kanan offered. "You can experience this weirdness vicariously through my dog."
His weird, weird dogasaurus.

"He doesn't seem to have any complaints," Kanan offered. "Anything he can't do with two feet instead of four, he makes up for through sheer tenacity."
And also by being enthusiastic, but dumb.

She was in fact picturing a big lizard.

"Two feet, tiny little arms, and one claw on each back foot that would make a nexu jealous," Kanan reported. "He's like a tauntaun didn't get the memo that he's supposed to be furry and have horns. And then there are the rainbow spots."
It was a Stance thing.

"How else would people know that dinosaur is my ridiculous dog, right?"
Besides being stupidly friendly and more than a little bit excitable, and all.

"I guess Stance is definitely a personality, isn't he?"
Little bit, Kanan.

BFFs.

Stance missed you so muuuuch, Rey!
"He's pretty much the best dog," Kanan said, because there was no place for humility when discussing pets. "Even when he's a dinosaur."

"Probably for as long as the island stays like this," Kanan mused. "It's been this way since Monday, so... hell if I know."

"Maybe," Kanan agreed. "With any luck, I won't have much more than another day of this left."
... Technically, that would in fact be the case!
