What was that saying about being careful what you wish for? Because Beau had been talking to Fjord a couple of days ago about whether the island was going to turn into someplace exciting (by which they'd meant equipped with things to fight) for the upcoming week.
And then, on top of leaving her apartment this morning to find that the park had apparently shrunk overnight, and that some places seemed to be flooded again, she'd had to fight off several creepy-ass people in creepy-ass masks just to get to work.
Which accounted for how she had several long bleeding scratches on her arms and a cut on her chin by the time she arrived, without her coffee because she'd spilled it when that last Splicer came at her between J,GoB and the gym. At least everything seemed to be intact and in working order, and she was fine with getting to fight stuff while walking around the apparently greatly-condensed town. It was the creepy-ass part that got an objection out of her. Oh, and also the part where there was something about the town's current state that set her teeth on edge because it just . . . struck her as the kind of place her father might appreciate.
Beau might be spending at least part of her shift today literally guarding the door, and occasionally just glowering at whatever city this was that had decided to merge itself with Fandom this week.
