Modern Earth Entertainment, Thursday (before to after sundown)

Today's snacks included chips, popcorn, and a bag of M&Ms as well as sodas.

Hey, he couldn't eat the M&Ms! And wasn't supplying alcohol with what was out there after dark this week.

"If you're here," he said, "I'm assuming you either don't know what's out there after the airhorn sounds, or you can handle yourself. In either case, if you want company on the way home, I'm available. Anyway, today's movie was going to be horror, but I think we've got enough of that, so it's sort of a horror and a comedy? And a little bit musical," sorry, Amaya. "But it's a classic, so I hope you all enjoy it. Please help yourselves to the snacks."

Have snacks, talk amongst yourselves.

Seivarden looked at the M&Ms, guessing where they came from.

"Are you sure those are edible?"

Breq knew that Seivarden wouldn't recognized her, or she wouldn't have come. When her former lieutenant questioned the candy, she reached out and poured a few into her hand. Completely ignoring Seivarden, she put them in her mouth, one by one.

"How would I know?" Peter asked. "They're a type of candy, and I assume the dean wouldn't want to poison anyone, but that's all I can say, really."

Amaya ~~who had been there THIS WHOLE TIME HONEST~~ had considered not coming to the movie class that evening, but she'd been missing so much of them lately, and she did have the Crumbler to help her out with getting back and forth, so she figured it couldn't really be all that bad.

She had to admit, though, she'd be a bit distracted, worried as she was that those creepy jerks might try to mess with the machine while she was in here watching and movie and putting down plenty of popcorn and M&Ms, but she brought...reinforcements.

Look, she might not know how to use the weapons she made as well as some, but there was no denying that she had a lot of them, and her pockets were roomy. She wasn't too worried about it.

Peter nodded at her. "Glad you could make it. Are you okay to head home afterwards?"

Amaya gave a small nod before her grin went a bit crooked. "I should be fine," she said, wishing she could sound a little more confident about that. "Assuming, anyway, that they don't think themselves cute by getting their filthy hands on the Crumbler out there! And even then, it'll be them you'll need to be worrying about, not vice versa!"

Fjord didn't even have Crumbler privileges yet; it was very Serious Business.

Peter gave her a little smile. "I can head home with you after, if you want the backup. We can drop Seivarden off at our place and then head to the forge."

"Well," said Amaya, whose head tilted a little thoughtfully, "I wouldn't want you to go out of your way just on account of me, especially if there's really no need, but I also know I have a terrible track record with these sorts of things, so I suppose just to keep a small handful of people from either needing a few stern words with me or at the very least to avoid a few disappointed shaking heads, maybe I will take you up on that. Thanks, Peter."

Peter grinned. "It's no problem. Anything to save you from stern words."

Puttin' on the Ritz!

The idea of considering an artificial being sort of human was ridiculous, of course, but this was an Earth comedy, so all Seivarden did was snorting in places that might be considered odd.

It was a silly movie, even if the theme of an artificial creature being a person surprised her.

And there were songs. She hummed along with a few of them.

He's here! Come rain, shine, or obnoxious critters outside.

I suppose even if the world's lousy, we shouldn't just end it, huh?
