Luke's, Saturday

Whatever else was going on on the island, at least it wasn't dangerous to get to work this week. And if Miguel put a little more effort into cooking himself, nobody could blame him for wanting a distraction, could they?

"Shut up," he told the cook firmly. "It's my turn this week."

Today's Specials:
Huevos rancheros
Strawberry empanadas
Fried ice cream

Luke's was open!

"Hey, Tightpants!" Rosa called out as she entered the diner, figuring there was a good chance that Miguel would probably be in the kitchen, then made her way to the counter. "When do you get off?"

....aaand she could have probably have done better with phrasing on that one. Whoops?

"Good," said Rosa, because that was sooner rather than later, and she honestly didn't know if she could hold out for later. "I'm getting us a portal. Where do you want to go? And if that doesn't..." She narrowed her eyes, glaring at the multiverse, "work, we'll try another one. And another. And another..."

...he was smart. He should have the jist of it.

There was a faint twitch of a grin at that tone, but it was mostly a sort of smug satisfaction.

Albeit small.

"Good," she said again. "I can show you my old stomping grounds in Macau."

Yeah, right. There would be no sight-seeing. And then she remembered the hot soup that had been the weather this week on top of everything else.

"No," she decided, "somewhere cooler. Stockholm? Osaka? Berlin? ...I could literally just keep listing cities I've lived in..."

"We could go anywhere," said Rosa, emphasizing that point with a look and a quirked brow, "and you pick New York?"

"Oh, god, no," Rosa admitted, doing a poor job of fighting down a smirk, and then just giving up on keeping it back. "I just had to give you crap for that. We can do New York; I like New York, too. Or I could just surprise you..."

And now she had a new goal of making sure that, no matter where they went, it wouldn't matter, because he'd be too distracted and busy to even notice.
