Furnado Animal Shelter; Thursday [08/08].
One would think that maybe Prompto would have noticed this sort of thing before Thursday, but, if there was one thing to be said about this week, the details of it were pretty hard to ignore if you bothered dropping into Furnado for more than five seconds.
He was still having a little trouble wrapping his mind around it, though, even as he stared at all those empty, empty tanks.
"Wait. Hold on. Let me get this straight," he implored the vet. "There's, like, no fish. None. Not even, like, a fish egg. Not even any fish-like or water-dwelling animal whatsoever? They're all just...y'know...poof. Gone?"
And the vet confirmed, yet again, that yes. That was what happened. Even products that contained fish or other similar things were, as Prompto so succinctly put it, just...y'know...poof. Gone.
"Oh, man," bewildered, fascinated, mildly amused, Prompto shook his head and chuckled. "It's too bad Sidon's not here this week; it'd be, like, the perfect tank cleaning week!"
You were...so close, Prompto. So. Close.
"Hey, maybe I'll do 'em today!" he said brightly. "It'll be a nice surprise for when he comes back."
Whenever that would be. It was still a little weird, too, wasn't it? That Sidon would just take off, without even letting anyone know where he was going or what he was doing or when he'd be back like that...It didn't seem like him at all, but, hey. Maybe it was, like, Super Secret Zora Prince stuff. Prompto could respect that...
"Maaaan," he marveled again, as he went to grab some rags and buckets and cleaning supplies, "like, no fish at all! That's just wild. It's really too bad he's not here to see this; he'd get a kick out of it, I'm sure."
So. Stinkin'. Close!
Furnado is open!

After her classes, Nina swung by with food--but decidedly no seafood--so, like, she hoped he was happy with tacos.
"I come bearing food!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she chirped.

Prompto looked up from where he was sitting surrounded by empty tanks and cleaning supplies, which he discovered was quite an involved job, even without any fish to worry about, and breathed out a big sigh of relief for an interruption. "To be continued," he assured the tanks, scrambling up to his feet, peeling off his gloves, and bouncing on over toward the front of the store.
"Niiiiinaaaaaaa!" he greeted, before he'd even got there, so she had plenty of opportunity to hear him coming. "I like food!"
no subject
She was neither Vette nor Prompto here.
"Tacos today!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina added. "Because, like, I didn't want Mooby's or pizza!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
And since she was buying lunch, he had to cope--cope--with what she felt like eating.
It seemed fair to her.
"What were you doing????????????????"
no subject
"And I was cleaning the fish tanks," he offered, "so I'm definitely going to go wash my hands first. But, I mean, hey, I figured, if there's any week that'll be a good one to try and surprise Sidon by doing them for him, this was definitely going to be a good one.

That was said with love and affection, really, but also with an eye roll at his unwashed state (boys) and a smiling shake of her head.
"And, like, I guess it makes sense to clean them all while there's no fish around," she mused, never having cleaned a fish tank in her life. "They, like, can't get in the way then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
He was, though, getting a bit of a squint for the remark about Sidon. Nina wasn't worried about Sidon's disappearance—if he didn't show up on Monday when the rest of the fish came back, then she'd worry—but…………..
"Isn't it, like, weird to plan a surprise for someone who is currently non-existent???????????????????"
Well, really………..

Sure, the dude disappeared without a word or a trace, but to say he completely ceased to exist seemed pretty dramatic, even for Nin--
--no,no, that seemed pretty on track for Nina. He chuckled a little, shaking his head, then shaking his hands before reaching for a paper towel and heading back.
"I mean," Prompto continued, "he's probably going to be back tomorrow, anyway. He didn't ask me to cover for him, and he always asks me to cover if he's not going to be here. And he covers for me, because we got each other's backs!"

…………………………………………….. …. . ………….
Nina's squint wasn't going anywhere as she considered various ways to break the news to him that Sidon wasn't around since, uh, apparently he'd missed the memo about the existing thing somehow…
"Okay," she said slowly, "but, like, he's stood up Vette this week already??????????????" That was one way to put it, Nina. "Does that sound normal??????????????? She's super bummed out about it………………"
She was a sulking burrito blanket pile of Twi'lek, cat, and fabric. Nina actually felt a bit bad for coming to visit Prompto before she went back to their room to keep Vette company.

Hell, it was a good thing he hadn't even picked one up because he'd have definitely dropped it.
"Stood her up?" he asked, halfway between incredulousness and just thinking Nina had to have been making that up. "Sidon? The Zora Prince? Stood up Vette? What? When? How?....what???"
Why didn't anyone tell him these things???
no subject
"Right?!?!?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina said sagely, nodding along with his incredulousness. "Like, they were supposed to go on a romantic getaway to this water world in Vette's universe yesterday but, like, he never showed?????????????????????"
There was some creative interpretation in there, of course, but the gist of the vacation and him not being around to show up were true. Most of Nina's ridiculousness was rooted in truth in some way, after all.
"So she's like hiding under her blankets now and she didn't even go to work today???????????????"
no subject
Even if Sidon had been swept away with Super Secret Zora Prince duties, he would never...
"Also, I'm totally making an emergeny ice cream stop at Chilly Boulder on my way home, if you haven't already, but if you have already, what are you even doing here, because that ice cream is gonna melt. Do we need to call an emergency Diamond sleepover in the headquarters? Ice cream? Pizza? Maybe some really bad movies?"
no subject
Nina wasn't worried about that. Vette was small and light and Nina was a lot stronger than her own rather waifish appearance suggested.
"But, yeah, like, if he had anyway not to have gone missing on Vetter, then he wouldn't have, you know????????????? If he's not back by Monday, I'm going to find him."
She was still mostly sure it was just the island weird having gotten him. If it wasn't, though, then Nina would find him or kill herself trying.
