Luke's, Sunday
Kanan took two steps into the diner today, looked at the staff, and before any of them could open their mouths, he said, "There had better be pancakes on the specials board."
And then a moment's pause before he added, "and I'll have a double order. Extra berries."
It had been that kind of week. He hadn't eaten since Sunday last week and he'd almost been eaten by a giant droid in Hera's scrapyard yesterday. Pancakes, dammit.
Today's Specials:
Pancakes, Half Price!
Extra Toppings Free To Anyone With Toy Trauma!
"Better make that a double order on the extra berries, too."
Happy Sunday.
[OOC: And open here, too! With the 'slowplay-to-noplay in the morning' caveat!]

"Oh, I definitely need trauma toppings," she said, which had less to do with actual trauma and more to do with just now getting paychecks again.

Because he hadn't been eating it. Not since he'd pretty much ruined himself on that spiced stuff from Mexico.
"Is chocolate all you want, or would you like to pair that with something?"

"Just the chocolate," Kanan replied. "That, we can do. We can even make them chocolate pancakes, or chocolate chip ones, if you're feeling adventurous."
Maybe this week had already had too much adventure. It was still worth extending the offer.

Plus, all the chocolate.

... Said the guy who had been lined up for execution.
You know, sometimes that was just Saturday around here.

And honestly, nothing that had happened to her here could compare to what she'd just had back home, which helped.
"How are you doing?"
no subject
He really had to stop ending up in those situations. This one had even been those damn clones again.
"I might be twitchy for a few days. I'll live."

She had spent way too much time that morning just reveling in even the grossest normal human bodily functions that morning.
"That one was weird, even for me, BDG, and you know that's saying a lot."
no subject
That was about all that really had going for it.
no subject
She grinned a little wryly as she folded her arms (what a novel concept, too! Arms that bent at the elbows again! Arms that actually had elbows!) and leaned forward onto them on the counter.
"I'm really glad you didn't get crushinated, Beeg," she said.
She figured he already knew, of course, but sometimes, it was just nice to hear it.
no subject
He gave a soft laugh, a brief little chuckle. It wasn't his idea of a great time, no. Nothing leading up to that moment? Not at all his idea of a great time.
"So, I hear you're one of the ones I get to thank for returning the island to normal, huh?"
no subject
And was it a little sad that that wasn't too far off from the truth, if you really got down to it? Whatever.
"But, I mean, I do think maybe those pancakes should be free instead of just half-off in this case."
no subject
Really, at this rate she was on track to get free pancakes for life.
Or at least every now and then.
"So, what'll it be this week, then?"
no subject
She put her focus instead into the all important decision of what kind of pancakes she'd like, giving it careful consideration before she snorted. "Pumpkin spice," she said. "I'm realizing all of a sudden that my timing is terrible, I'm going to be building my new business in a universe without pumpkin spice right at primo PSL time. How's that for crap planning?"
And, while they were on the topic of galaxies far, far away... "Also, is Rey a Jedi now? When did that happen??"
She had questions, Kanan, and she hadn't had any time to ask Rey herself any of them! What with the evil teddy bears and creepy spider babies and giant mousetrap and everything.
no subject
That had been the weirdest week of them all, dammit.
"And the Rey thing? That's new," he replied, tilting his head a little. "Really new. She had gone missing for a few weeks, didn't to her weekly check-in calls, and I was just packing up to try to find her when she showed up and," told him he'd been right, "we had a pretty in-depth talk about it."
no subject
"And that's good," she added, with a small smile and nod. "I was hoping maybe you were in on that. She's pretty good, too, from what I saw down there, but, I mean, you're my basis for comparrison there, so who even knows."
no subject
Yeah. Yeah, this was Kanan basically committing himself to training a shiny new Jedi.
He wasn't letting himself think about that, yet. He'd panic.
no subject
Which just sounded exhausting.
"She'll be kicking your ass in no time," Summer decided with confidence. "I'm just a little sorry I won't really be around much to see it."
And it was funny, she realized, how all of a sudden, she'd gone from avoiding talking about leaving altogether to mentioning it balatantly and with a sort of eager gusto.
Almost like something might have happened between this week and last that made her a bit more comfortable with the idea of finally getting her ass out of Dodge...Hmm.
no subject
He wouldn't want any broadcasts of somebody using the Force to be found on Summer's person. That would be instant incrimination, right there.
"Sorry that whole week meant you couldn't do your property shopping, though."
