Portalocity arrivals area: Saturday Sept 14, afternoon.
Kaidan had sent a text as promised. Carrying and overlarge duffel bag, in the same outfit he'd left the island in. Cargo pants, t-shirt, boots. A little more wear and tear on the boots, the leather of one toe had a distinct bitemark impression from one of the little Kroglettes. He smiled every time he looked at it. She was his favorite, the feisty little runt of the first hatch.
It had been a good few days after a very long month. He still badly needed sleep, but that was a never-ending problem lately, and had been for over a year now. At least maybe now his brain could content itself with something. The mission had been a success. Impromptu and done mostly out of panic, the Hail Mary had succeeded. The galaxy wouldn't be the same, but he couldn't help but think it would be better. Maybe a little more stable. Maybe give him a little more room to breathe for just a little while longer.
He waited for the portal to open and when it did, he stepped through. Back to the island he went.
[For the one or two, could be open if you have a reason to be there, sure. Wanderer returns. OCD below.]

Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Well, that's good," Kaidan said with a slight change of subject, "I have about fifty pictures of Sparkle in his, because Hernando thinks it's cute. If you were sending me raccoon onesie selfies, that might be a bit much." He smiled lopsidedly, "Kinda want to see Stance in his frog outfit though. I bet that was adorable."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Hey, guess who was already digging through his pocket for his phone so that he could pull up those pictures!
"He definitely seemed to like it, anyway."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Kaidan craned to look at the pictures and laughed. "Ok, that is cute. Seems appropriate, too, given how he thinks he should be part aquatic animal, sometimes."
Stance and his buddies the ducks.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Or was it the bear in the fancy hat? And the pink and purple dolphins...
Anyway, the place Stance came from was an absolute trip.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Were you raised by penguins, buddy?" Kaidan asked Stance. The attempt to lick his face off was probably not an answer. "Hey, if dogs see things in black and white, do you think Stance even knows how colorful he is? You go kind of go standard with the greys and greens, maybe he saw that as black and white too. You'd be one hell of a tall penguin, though."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Hey, Earth has some pretty tall penguins," Kanan replied, grinning. "Maybe not as tall as I am, but I can understand how Stance might get confused." There was a pause, and then he added, "He didn't seem to notice much by way of greens and reds, that week he could talk. But he could pick out blues, so at least he knows he's got that much."
Down near his paws, because Stance also couldn't see his own face. It was better than nothing, right?
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Definitely not as tall as you, Mr. Two Meter Plus," Kaidan ribbed him, "That'd be an awfully large penguin. Did you have blues, buddy? You could see all your blue spots? Did you think you were blue like that irritating dog on TV? I hope not. You're not irritating, you're a good dog."
He raised both brows when he looked back up at Kanan, "I missed a week he could talk? Tell me he called you Daddy."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"He did, and that's entirely your fault," Kanan reported, still grinning a little. "It was kind of nice, really. He talked me into getting him a swimming vest." Vesty vest. "The ducks have hated me ever since."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Kaidan burst out laughing at that and plopped a kiss between Stance's eyes. "Good boy!" God, it felt so good to laugh at something. "The ducks can live with it. He doesn't try to eat them, he just wants to play."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"It's true. He's a good buddy," Kanan agreed. Damn, it felt good to see Kaidan laugh at something. "You'll have to join us in the park one of these days. Throw some sticks for him, that sort of thing. Maybe between the two of us, we can keep the ducks from completely losing their minds."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"I suppose I can make it to the park some Fridays before the rain and snow starts," Kaidan agreed, "It'll be nice to get back to the routine and practice, anyway."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
...
"I took on another student. My head is doing the usual self-doubt acrobatics."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Kaidan blinked at that sudden brief shower of honesty. "Wait, what? If you're thinking any of that then yeah, you do need a smack. Buddy, what? You're not a bad teacher."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"She's Force-sensitive."
Because of that.
"That aside, though, a little bit of quality time just shooting the shit, throwing a stick around, swinging some practice swords with you? Back to the normal? I've missed that."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"We got another one?" Kaidan asked, "That's good, though. You teaching her. I think you might be the only sane Force-sensitive on this island. Adults, anyway. You said Lana had a good head on her shoulders and Jack seemed to like her." But of course Jack would like the Sith. "How is your pen-pal, anyway?" Kaidan asked with a small grin. Hey, you say shoot the shit, you get shoot the shit.
He wasn't dismissing the last part. He just agreed with it too much to say anything without choking up.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Yeah, he got it.
"Threatening to send me the latest in Sith fashion," he reported. "He'd love to have me visit him on Dromund Kaas, it'd get all the other Sith wondering who his new friend is. I'm half-tempted to take him up on the offer just to stir things up for them."
Because Kanan was nothing if not a little shit. Just play dressup and waltz on over to visit the Sith in the heart of the Empire, a few thousand years ago? Couldn't possibly go wrong.
"I'm going to try to get some Jedi robes tailored just for him in retaliation."
Suck it, Vowrawn.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Kaidan laughed again, "You know, I could just see you doing that. Dressing up, swanning in, sneering right down your patrician nose at all the Sith you met. Just to mess with 'em."
He looked Kanan up and down and grinned, "So tell me, what's Sith fashion even look like?"
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Long dark dresses and shoulder armor too big to fit through most doors, as near as I can figure," Kanan offered. "Going by Vowrawn, anyway. I've never actually seen any Sith in my time."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Dark colors do suit you," Kaidan pointed out, grinning even more, "Haven't seen you in a dress yet, though. Bathrobe, twice." Baby Jedi robes were adorable and tiny!Caleb had been so very serious.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"You do occasionally turn into a pretty woman," Kaidan reminded him, "The island's done that before. Not that you'd need to, for a dress."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"The island's done that before," Kanan agreed. "And I can't imagine a dress fitted for me as I usually am would sit on me any better than any of my other clothes when I'm a pretty woman. Maybe next time I'll actually remember to get clothing that fits."
A sports bra, at least.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Not with your shoulders, no," Kaidan agreed, "and the lack of padding on your," very deliberate pause, "hips. Kind of a nuisance, really, having to get a whole new wardrobe for it. I planned for it by keeping a bunch of sweats around. Can't go wrong with a drawstring waist."
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Well, it doesn't have to be a whole wardrobe," Kanan offered. "It's usually only a couple of days, and it isn't like I'm running out on fancy dates or anything, is it?
He didn't even go on fancy dates when he wasn't shaped like a lady.
Re: For Jack and/or Kanan
"Kanan, your idea of 'whole wardrobe' is enough shirts and underwear to get you through the week and like two pairs of pants," Kaidan smirked at him, "In your case, the term fits. Though now I'm trying to picture you on a fancy date in any form, so thanks for that."
