It was a quiet day after a long time without quiet, so Janet had brought her camera in today and was testing out some things by taking pictures around the store. If you needed her, she'd be artistically arranging items for photos.

She low key hated that her favorite so far was one of the Squishy machine that gave her so much trouble.

Sometimes (very rarely), Shunsui's boredom actually outweighed his laziness and he figured it had been a while since he'd been in the shop to check up on how Janet-chan was doing. Besides, he needed more bandages for the blisters on his poor toesies from those Western-style shoes he was wearing on Thursday.

"Gooood moooorrrniinnngg, Janet-chaaaan~~ ♥!!" he sang as he fluttered through the doors.

In the afternoon.

"How is my favorite employee today ♥?"

"She's totally working!" Janet said, like the guy who'd tried to give her sake at first meeting would care.

"Wonderful ♥!" said the guy who would try to give her sake now as well. "Then that means it's probably time for a break ♥! Let's have a drink," which he was already pouring, "and you can tell me about how the day has been ♥!"

"I mean, I'm definitely still at work and shouldn't be drinking here," Janet pointed out.

She still sort of hoped it was a trap, that one day she'd be like "sure" and she'd get written up because...

"Ahhhhhhh ♥," Shunsui clicked his tongue a little, shaking his head, "but all work and no sake sounds just dreadful, Janet-chan ♥." He held the little filled cup out for her. "Are you sure ♥?"

Only one way to really find out if it was a test or not, right?

"I'm good. Also I need both hands to work this camera properly."

Shunsui was certain he'd get Janet-chan to enjoy some completely work-sanctioned sake one of these days, but pressure was not at all his style, so he just shrugged and claimed this one for himself.

"A camera ♥?" he asked, tilting his head a little after a sip. "Do you dabble in photography, Janet-chan ♥?"

"More than dabble, maybe," Janet said with a little smile. "I'm thinking I want to go to school for it."

"So ka ♥?" asked Shunsui, with a small, delighted-sounded chuckle. "That's wonderful, Janet-chan ♥! Have you been taking pictures here in the shop? May I see ♥?"

"Sure," she said, going over to show him what she'd taken today. They were really all still life photos of objects and signs, though they were pretty good if you were into that sort of thing. "I know it probably looks pretentious, but that's what I was going for so it's okay."

Shunsui took a sip of his sake, leaned in for a better look, and had to grin.

"Ahhh, but they do have a certain undeniable charm about them, don't they ♥?" he said. "And just as lovely as the person who shot them ♥! I may not be much of a photographer myself, but I do have a keen eye for beauty, Janet-chan, and I did have a brief stint as a photographic model for the Shinigami Women's Association's photo collection series. Using my Arms as Pillows ♥."

He recited the title with a wistful sort of smile, which then went a little boastful.

"It sold out almost immediately, you know ♥."

They had also printed significantly fewer copies of his collection than some of the others, too, but Shunsui had not been privy to that information.

"That... must have been an interesting experience," Janet said, because... it had to have been. "Do you want a picture here in the store? Minus the women part."

[sake_shinigami]

"Perhaps we could do a set of me in pursuit of all my various tasks and obligations around the store ♥!" Shunsui suggested. "And when you print them, we can send copies to my lieutenant, as proof against her very silly and baseless claims that I'm not really doing any work here, and that I'm only here to laze about and drink sake and...make new friends ♥."

Nanao-chan had definitely used a term much less family-friendly than 'make new friends,' but Janet-chan was just a kid.

"We can call it..."

He thought for a moment.

"The Never-ending Toils of the Hard-working and Handsome Shopkeeper ♥."

The title was clearly still a work in progress.

"Sure, okay, happy to help," Janet said, and added, "Why don't you start on one of those various tasks and obligations?"

Considering how worried Summer had been about making sure Janet could do things like ordering, she also was curious if he had them.

"You have a lieutenant?"

"Let's start with the computer ♥!" said Shunsui, drifting that way. "Like I'm putting in orders, and I'll even grab the phone and make it look like I'm speaking with a very important distributor ♥!"

His performance would somehow manage to be even less convincing than usual, which was almost impressive, considering how he should be very well practiced in pretending to work.

"And I do ♥! Back home, I am the Captain of the Eighth Division of what's called the Gotei 13, which protects the Soul Society, and my lieutenant is the lovely, lovely Nanao Ise ♥. So if there's ever a bespectacled young woman in black robes like these," he gave his own a small tug, "asking after me and looking far too serious for such a pretty face, that's probably her ♥."

"And she'd probably be checking up on you from the... Soul Society?"

This place, good god.

She snapped a few pictures, and said, "Try looking very serious, like they're out of the supplies you need."
