Fast Eddie's, Sunday Afternoon
Liam didn't remember exactly how the topic had come up, but somehow, he and Beau had been talking and they'd made the mutual discovery that not only had neither of them been to the bowling place on the island, neither of them had ever actually gone bowling at all.
Being the naturally competitive people that they were, they'd decided they should fix that. So here they were, swapping out regular shoes for ugly bowling shoes and about to get down to the extremely serious business of a bowling competition.
[ooc: i have a sunday off for once, shockingly! expecting the one mentioned and much SP, but also open!]

There had been no 'talking into it' involved, for the record.
"These shoes are, like, the worst."
Not that she wasn't already lacing them up and trying to get used to walking in them. While looking for a nice blue bowling ball, although she was maybe putting more importance on making it impressively heavy than, you know. Being able to use it.

If he were a better (read: less competitive) person, he might have pointed out that judging from the way she was hefting that ball, Beau might want to look for one a little lighter.

"Okay, so what, we pick a lane and then we do this? How do we know who goes first? Do we
roll initiativeflip a coin for it? Play boulder, parchment, shears? Arm wrestle? What?" Beau was squinting down the lanes, as if one of them was going to give her a hint as to its being more suitable than the others.no subject

It wasn't going to be Beauregard "I have no strength modifier" Lionett, that was for sure.
"So ... " She pulled a coin out of her pocket -- an Imperial silver piece, as it happened, since she had some seriously mixed change in her pockets all the time. "Heads or tails?"

Despite her tone, it was an affectionate expression, which hopefully Liam knew her well enough to get by now.

But yeah, she'd read a lot while she was there. So.
"I kinda feel like it's a lot simpler, denomination-wise, than money is here? Ten copper to one silver, ten silver to one gold, ten gold to one platinum. It just, uh." Beau chuckled. "Like, if you say you're loaded? You're literally loaded. Shit gets fuckin' heavy."
She gestured toward the coin. "It's yours if you want to, I don't know, start a collection or something."

Beauregard. No.

"Tails," he declared, looking at it. "Guess you're up first, then."

NPCpeople a few lanes down. Her approach looked good, at least? Until she got up to the line, went to release the ball, and it sort of arced forward a few inches before dropping onto the lane with a heavy thud and wobbling its unsteady way halfway down and then into the gutter.
"This is bullshit," she complained immediately.

(He hadn't known how the scoring worked until he'd looked that all up this morning, of course. But details.)
"You're only saying that 'cause you didn't hit anything," he scoffed, sending his own ball rolling down the lane.
He had slightly better luck than Beau, in that he managed to hit the pin on the outside edge of the right side.

Which rolled almost immediately right into the other gutter.
"I fuckin' told you, man, I told you, it's the fuckin' shoes!"
Uh huh.

They were so good at this.

"Dude. Dude. What if you, like, try to throw it --" maybe your problem was that you were trying to throw the ball, Beau -- "so it kinda rides up the side of the gutter at the end and gets the pins from the side?"
Like the bowling ball could get sneak attack damage or something, apparently.

Yes. That was totally how that worked.
