Covent Garden Flowers, Thursday
Octavia was uncharacteristically wearing a baggy hoodie to work, and her hair - braids and all - was pulled back into a ponytail. Apart from these two things, though, the day at the flower shop was much like any other.
Except for the orange carnations, which kept randomly disappearing every time Octavia let them out of her sight, forcing her to go on repeated hunts around the store to see where they'd decided to hide this time while she was trying to put together a few orders featuring them.
Also, today's snack of choice were carrot cake Oreos. No reason.
(There was definitely a reason.)

"Fresh-caught striped seabass, broiled with ginger, garlic, and scallions," he announced, holding a clam shell container out for her. "Is there a Trig version of bon appetit?"
There was maybe still a little fish blood under his nails.

"None that I know of," she said, clearing out some space on the counter but leaving the package of cookies where it was, before reaching for the container. (Also, how did she end up being handed food and drinks so much lately?) "Isn't that something like... hoping someone enjoys their meal?"
no subject
"That's exactly what it is, yeah. I suppose if you're mostly eating on the go, those sorts of pleasantries get set aside."
no subject
She thought about it while popping the container open.
"'Hofli yu dina ste non-non', maybe."
no subject
He took a moment to parse that Trig sentence out, poking at the cookies. "Non-non?" he asked.
Also, since when did oreos come carrot cake flavored?

"I don't know, Tavi, I've never been that big a fan of carrot cake. What's wrong with regular oreos?"
no subject
"Nothing," Octavia replied, amused in a way that was a fair bit more subdued than his, but still. "Regular's what I actually bought." Well, that and the peppermint bark ones, because she'd been curious. "This is what arrived at the apartment later."

Although she could definitely see the latter happening here, without question.
"I bought two packets and took them home, and then later, I was delivered this." A beat. "Along with, I think, one of every other kind that I hadn't bought." Did he know how many other kinds were available? Because she did!
no subject
"How many other kinds do they even have?"
no subject
So she hadn't actually counted. She just knew there were a lot of cookies in her kitchen now.

It wasn't so much that they didn't have various Oreo flavors in 2008. It was more that Duke had never paid any attention to whether they did or not.
no subject
It was all just a matter of perspective, but the fact that there were a ludicrous number of Oreo flavors remained.
"But I guess I'm trying them all, now."

Yesterday had been an incredibly rare day of staying on the couch with ice cream and cookies.

"The birthday cake ones," Octavia said, almost immediately. "No question."

You could tell they were offensive by the emphasis, though.
no subject
It was the only thing he could think of that might make a cookie 'birthday' themed. Other than writing "happy birthday" on them.
no subject
At least he would probably have been able to identify the flavor as mostly cake frosting. Because Octavia definitely couldn't.

Or more specifically the person who'd made it happen.
