Syndulla Scrap; Tuesday [11/19].
Y'wanna know what? After the weekend they'd all had, Wayne really wouldn't be surprised to find the scrapyard a little heavy on abandoned toys and things like that, because if this place liked one thing, it was definitely themes. Not to mention the fact that this was the place they went and sent all the supposed bad toys to that one week, so if he wound up coming across a piece of toy truck or some creepy bits of dolls here'n'there, he didn't really think much of it.
But whatever spare parts degen had put the monstrosity he unearthed today together and decided tosend it to me junk it in the scrapyard could just go fuck right off. He didn't care about the smell, that was going right into the incinerator.
Actually, truth be told, Wayne wasn't even entirely sure if he really even had much of a job here anymore, considering Hera'd gone off back home and everything, but, fuck, what else did he have going on for a Tuesday? Not a whole lot, might as well keep at it, he wasn't doing anything else. Might even be snow enough soon fer that snowmobile...

Syndulla Scrap is open!

He'd spent the weekend as a child and had somehow trapped himself in a cabinet the whole time.

"This is where I go after class every Tuesday," Wayne confirmed. "Though..." He squinted a little, finishing up with moving one piece of scrap from here to here "...not too sure what's happenin' with all that now, seein' as Hera's headed out, but it's the closest thing I've got around here that's like chorin', so I'll probably just keeep at it anywhey..."
He liked to keep busy, and he liked the work, even if he didn't like the rampant little weekly surprises that seemed to just keep popping up lately.
And now that that was answered, he brushed off his hands and offered a nod. "Okuyasu. How are ya now?"
Hey, just because they'd just seen each other in class and before that, they slept in the same room didn't mean it was any reason to be impolite.

He rubbed the back of his neck. "Also it's getting to cold around here."

At least his uniform had a high collar, though. You lost a lot of heat in the neck.
Which was why Wayne's own distinct wardrobe would be increasingly adding a turtleneck underneath all that plaid.

Technically he'd come here as a mission. But he had completely forgotten about actually doing anything related to the mission. He'd barely even remembered it now, in fact.

The sting of being sent back after the summer was still a little raw for him, too, even if it had been working out mostly pretty well for Wayne and the tomfuckery of the place seemed to settle down quite a bit after the summer.
"But I've got a couple," Wayne added, head turning back to Okuyasu, "if you need to borrow one fer a spell."
Hoped you like Carhartt and snowmobile jackets, bud, because that was all Wayne had. But they did the trick, he could tell you that much.
And black turtlenecks.
So many black turtlenecks.

He fidgeted a little. "You're always so generous, you know." But he wasn't going to make a big deal about it. "...so you're just poking around here for to feel like you're doing something?"
no subject
Even though Okuyasu hadn't really asked, but that wasn't the point.
Then Wayne considered the piece of sheet metal leaning against an old water tank that was going to be his next thing to move from here to here.
"And that's the idea of it," he said. "Back home, you're pert'near doin' something from sun-up to sun-down, but around here? Fuck. S'more time just floating around here than a newstand and a watch store combined."
There was...a considering pause before he ventured, "Might as well jus' call me Tommy Shaw, 'cuz I's got..." He squinted. "...too much time on my hands."
No, he wasn't expecting Okuyasu to get the reference, either, but it never hurt to at least try.

Time travel was weird.

Because someone had actually understood one of his references.
Wayne sort of blinked a few time before squinting slightly and looking away to say, "Oh, well, with that, I'm gonna have to go with Rush, but that's because Geddy Lee's a real fuckin' national treasure."
And then he was back to squinting at Okuyasu. "Y'know something, Okuyasu? Yer alright, bud."

Wayne looked up from what looked to be the fender from a classic '60s Cadillac, which he was in the process of moving from here to here, may have had a twitch in his expression that looked a bit like a smile if you knew how to look for it, and then finished up with the moving of hte fender from here to here. And once it was in place, he could put all his attention on Shuri now.
"...Shuri," he said, and would likelh deny any pause or added emphasis for reassurance, "how are ya now?"

It was very exciting work that he did here, Shuri.
"Me an' Vette did fix up an old snowmobile, though," he added, hitching a thumb over his shoulder. "Out past the pen fer the bitey bits. She's pert'near ready to go, though, all she needs is the snow."

He'd worked really hard to train them, after all. Exercise, discipline, affection, in that order!

He felt Shuri was a much better authority on adorable, anyway, so he'd easily take her word for it, before making a sharp turn toward the pen. "Let's go have a look."
