Duke came in with his usual cooler, already ranting.
"There's no point in even telling you all I caught salmon this morning, is there." He set his cooler down on the counter. "Salmon. This far south. In the Altantic. Nothing." He grabbed a knife and started unloading his catch. "And I caught it. That's hard enough there's an entire sport around it. And you all got nothing."
"I have marzipan," Matty said, holding up his own big box. Ali and Greg crowded around to admire it. "The tiny horses left it in my house! I think because of all my onions." He held up a little round piglet made of almond paste and stroked its head lovingly. "I told you all to start keeping halved onions by your bedside! They absorb toxins and you get treats from tiny horses!"
Duke shook his head. "There's so much wrong with that statement, I'm not sure where to start."
"They also kill evil spirits!" Matty said. "That's why they turn black overnight."
Greg frowned. "The horses?"
"The onions!"
"It just gets worse, doesn't it," Duke said. "Put the damn marzipan away and go get the cedar planks. We've got food to make."
