Covent Garden Flowers; Tuesday [01/21].
Astrid had came into the flower shop for work that day expecting to spend it working out some of the details for the sketch she was going to do to prepare for finally painting something on that black, black wall that had been overtaking her side of the room since she got back, but there was a particular white rose that was apparently feeling very artistic today. It kept posing for Astrid, to the point where she felt she had no choice but to sit there and sketch it instead, but she didn't mind. The poses were interesting and made for some good shading work, and it was good for her to practice drawing with gloves on.
They were a new pair. She'd had the opportunity to embroider little blue forget-me-nots on these ones, which complimented the pale grey heather satin of the gloves themselves. At some points, she regretted the choice because they were a little similar to oleanders, especially when embroidered by a mostly unskilled hand, but then Astrid just remembered that forget-me-nots were also called scorpion grasses, and she found that amusing enough to draw a few scorpion-flower hybrids in her sketchbook when the rose wasn't looking.
Covent Garden is open!
