Duke eyed his staff a bit suspiciously as he unpacked his morning catch.
"So," he said. "We all back to normal this week then?"
"The tentacle monster in the freezer kidnapped one of your servers and is demanding payment in ketchup," said Greg.
". . . Is that a yes or a no?" Duke asked. "Also: pay the thing its ketchup."
"We don't negotiate with terrorists," Ali said.
"Also we're out of ketchup," said Billy.
"This is a diner. How can we possibly be out of ketchup?"
The kitchen staff exchanged guilty looks. Duke squeezed his eyes shut and reminded himself that murdering his employees would probably not result in them being replaced with better ones.
