The Perk; Sunday Morning [01/26].
Look, Summer didn't want to go so far as to say that going to the Perk on Sunday mornings was a new thing for her--it was definitely not Sunday Pancakes, and nothing would ever be Sunday Pancakes, so she wouldn't even try to make it Sunday Pancakes--but evidence was definitely starting to point toward a trend.
Whatever. It gave her a little something to do and sort of helped her try to keep down that itch of wondering how things were going back out in space. An itch that got so bad sometimes that she thought about just hopping into her ship and heading back herself, but that was a pretty big no-go since her ship was kiiiiind of recognizable.
Which was why, as she settled down with a drink at a table with the intention of dicking around on her phone for a bit, she wound up texting her granpa to ask him what it might take to convince him to let her borrow one of his cloaking devices.
Nothing, he texted back. You can't. You're dumb, your ship is dumb, that universe is dumb, so there's no way I'm lending anything of mine to something that is basically the ultimate magnitude of dumb.
Excuse Summer while she tried not to let her eyes roll just right out of her head.
Gee, thanks, grampa rick. love u too.
Ugh, family was the worst.

"I hope you're not ordering jello tea or something equally offensive," she said.

She snorted faintly, shaking her head. "I'm actually working on something else entirely," she said, glancing up at Seivarden. "You wouldn't happen to know where I could get a decent cloaking device strong enough for a small ship for a good price, do you?"
Because someone went and sort of spent all her money on boots last week.
Whatever. They were crazy cute and she got a hell of a good deal on them. No regrets!
[[ like. fucking. clockwork, lol ]]

She sat down opposite Summer.
"Have you taken up smuggling, or made some bad enemies?"

Not terribly sorry, but at least she didn't want Summer dead.
"Your gift is thriving by the way."

She flashed Seivarden a little grin, and then turned her phone toward her. "What do you think? Long Island Ice Tea jello shots! That's got Wednesday Special written all over it!
"Actually," she added thoughtfully, "has anyone actually introduced you to Long Islands yet? Or is, like, iced tea a complete abomination to whatever weird space gods you've got out there?"

She just saw the image.
"That looks disgusting. No, no one has introduced me to them." She was already suspicious however.

There was a...pause.
A judging one, and then she returned to her scrolling.
"If you even bother showing up, that is."

"And I will," she nodded. "And let me guess: no tea bags, right?"

Which she'd have had a chance to ask about if she'd had been to the bar.
"How's that working out for you?"
no subject
"It's not as bad as I had expected. Some of the students even surprised me."
