Community Center Class: Tactics Pancake!!! | Monday
Nina's grand, grand plans for today's class had been…
Well.
She was still holding class but she was also pretty sure, at this point, that she had a fever going on in addition to her achy, dragging body, and a headache. All she ought to be doing, really, was sleeping, but then who would hold her class?
Nina had shifted her plans—out of necessity—and while she'd still had to spend time drawing with chalk, she had not moved all the furniture around, instead choosing to work <>with it.
Wrapping herself in a blanket, Nina curled up in a chair at the front of the classroom and, before any of her students arrived, invoked the spells that turned everything from a normal looking sort of room to…
An incredibly sketchy tavern. Complete with a one-eyed bartender who was more than half-drunk himself and tired bar wenches dressed incredibly indecently. Nothing, including the staff and the patrons was all too clean. The cups were almost certainly not safe to drink out of and rats skittered across the mildew-y straw covering the half-rotten floor. The tang of salt air underscored the filth.
She couldn't even, like, take credit for this place though, since it was based off a few taverns she'd been in.
Hidden by her illusions, Nina took a deep breath and steadied herself. She just had to get through class and then, okay, it'd be fine. She'd go to sleep.
"Compatriots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" she said, in a ringing voice that she really wasn't feeling today. "Old and new!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Last time, like, you searched the prince's quarters and most frequented haunts and discovered a few clues!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Even though Lox Bagel was keeping one of them to himself! And technically some of the clues hadn't been discovered but, like, she was in charge of this class and she got to decide how it went so, like, she was declaring they'd gotten enough information to make some choices.
"With Princess Danisha's blessings, you now wait for your ship to Cereelel, a small island nation off the coast of Waffledonia that is known primarily as being a den of iniquity and home to many pirates! Perhaps one of them would know of the prayer the prince sought!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Or perhaps you're all just wasting your time!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
Well. Given that she was in charge it was unlikely they were wasting their time. Unlikely, but not impossible.
"Nonetheless, all you can do is wait—and get to know your compatriots!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After all," she said, lowering her voice, "your lives will depend on each other!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
[Plz to be waiting for the OCD is up, up, and away!]

It was definitely the latter, but, if anyone asked, he was going to make a case fer the former.

Re: Wait at the Tavern!
He could not possibly be getting it dirtier, after all.
"Well mateys!" he said. "How should we pass the time?"
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
In character, Sabine. In character.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
He was staying very nicely in character, thank you.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Why not.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Look, he'd already invented Waffledonia wholesale, he might as well add more random geography to this make-believe world they were in.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"I've been most places," Duke said easily. "I once spent a lovely year in West Croissant, working both sides of a skirmish over scallion-rights."
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Sabine did not actually know what a scallion was. It was a food?
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"Isn't that just typical?" Duke mused. "The Heshbrown range is the historic birthplace of scallions, and yet the Croissantois elite have turned them into a commodity more expensive than gold. I bet your people haven't been able to afford them for generations."
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"Exactly. Waffledonia's been dealing with the same shit from Pancake --" Duke frowned, dropping out of character. "-- Fuck, what was the pancake country called again? Pancake-ia? Pancakeland. Whatever. They've been trying to conquer the waffle land forever. Over . . . like butter or something."
He'd even made this part up. But there were a lot of breakfast puns to keep track of, here.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
But it went great with the syrup ocean Duke was pretty sure he'd invented, so hey!
"That'd be the one. And the cinnamon mines. Waffledonia has a wealth of natural resources, after all."
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"Could be a cash reward in that prince saving," Duke said. "Good call."
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Was it a quest? Probably.
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"Oh, money, definitely." He had just said he'd worked both sides of that conflict in West Croissant, after all. "Any resemblance I may have to the lost Prince Bagellan of Waffledonia is purely coincidental."
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
Dammit wait was she a bounty hunter again?
Re: Wait at the Tavern!
"Like I haven't tried to do that myself already," Duke said. Because . . . sure, that could be a thing, right? "Besides, I heard he died in the Great Butter Wars five years ago."
