Clothes Over Bros- Wednesday

There was plenty to do this week, but it was possible that one of those things might also be some work? Crazy.

So Brooke came in for a while, at least, making sure the mannequins were showing off the store's lingerie selection was well represented in the window, while the nicer stuff was available right when you walked in the door. Maybe she kept rearranging some things, too, just for something to do with her hands.

Okay. Okay, so like, Nina had realized that given what the party was turning out to be—in no small part thanks to her and she wasn't going to deny that she was a cheerful enabler of romance--but, like, okay, back on topic, Nina had realized that she had nothing to wear.

Which was obviously an over-exaggeration but, like, she didn't have anything that suited how she was feeling and that was a truth.

Nina had poked her head into Pixie Dust and had backed out basically immediately because while the girl manning the shop had been super cute and definitely looked like she knew her clothes and all, she'd also looked like she was ten or eleven and Nina was not asking a child about… all of this.

The lingerie in the windows of Clothes Over Bros had her blushing furiously before she even gathered her courage and entered, hoping that the entire store wasn't… ah… that.

Even with her courage braced, Nina paused in the entryway, once she'd closed the door behind her and couldn't help but feel (and look) rather lost.

Really now, the things people wore…

Brooke was practiced enough at this to not actually look at any teenagers during a week like this, so don't mind that, she was saving you both.

"Can I help you?"

"I don't know," Nina said, after another pause, though this one was more 'wow, that lady was pretty' and less trying to sink into the floor though that was still an option. "I'm, ah, like looking for something a bit more… modern????????????????"

Nina looked really cute—in her own opinion—with her soft felt hat atop her curls and her neat and tidy winter coat with the twin rows of buttons from collar to hem and the cuffs of the sleeves edged in fur. Her skirt was a heavy winter one, down to her ankles and embroidered with little birds and her boots matched her coat.

But, like, she was not particularly… modern. Or anything but incredibly modest.

"Okay... when you say ''modern', is there a style you're looking for? Or a level of what you're wanting to show off?"

Because everyone was a horned up mess this week.

Nina paused.

"Like, I don't really know," she admitted, "but I'll run away screaming if you try to get me to wear anything in the windows……………………"

She. She was not ready to go anywhere near that far.

"There is a long way between you and the window," Brooke assured her with a smile. "Cleavage?"

Nina hesitated.

"Like, some????????????" she ventured, since she wanted to be brave but she also didn't want to, like—"I don't want to fall out of anything???????????????"

"So, revealing, but still mysterious?" Brooke asked, making sure Nina was good with that.

"You know what," Nina said, beaming, "that sounds perfectly delightful!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Her romantic little heart loved the idea of being mysterious.

"Okay. What color do you feel the best in?"

She was a surprisingly good sexed-up fairy godmother.

"Pink!!!!!!!!!!!!" Nina said immediately because, well, it was true. "Though I also, like, really look good in blue?????????????????"

She was and Nina loved it.

"Well," Brooke said, looking through the racks, "we have something a little romantic, or something a little more adorable party girl... This I don't actually think you'll pick but you should try it on first just to feel yourself a little."

Probably not dirty. Brooke had done a lot of things in dressing rooms, she would not judge.

"Am I on the right track?"

Nina shifted a little, a bit aghast at the idea that two of those contained any mystery at all, and yet--

"The second one is pretty close to a few of my dresses," she admitted. "The neckline's a bit lower, the ones I've got just cut, like, straight across instead of that heart-shape............ I, like, the others are really pretty but..... I want to try them but I'm also terrified of them?????????????????"

Because oh my gosh.

"There's nothing wrong with trying. If you don't like it, you put them back," Brooke shrugged. "Also remember if something's too revealing, you can always wear a shawl or something, too. Which also gives you something to take off later, when you're feeling it."
