Syndulla Scrap; Sunday Afternoon [04/05].
Sure, Hera might have been gone for a while now, but Summer keeping her ship at the scrapyard just felt right, and she didn't have much else going on that day, so she'd gone and let herself in because she could so that she could go and do a bit of maintenance on the old girl.
And also inspecting some of the battle damage it'd received before she got back, wondering if it would be difficult for Sabine to do a little brush up here and there to make her look as shiny as a re-purposed old ship could look.
All the while munching on a maple doughnut between tasks and getting really into the guts of the ship. It wasn't even close to Sunday pancakes, but it wasn't a bad substitute for the time being.
[[ I have a break in my orders right now, so let's see how well I can pull off the occasional ping during slow times! Post is open, but subject to sudden SP. Also, I never get to used these icons! ]]

Not for long though; she was here to see if there were some tools left that she could borrow
for some handwavy reason that is just an excuse to ping her in here.no subject
and much bigger than the one in this iconship was definitely hard to ignore, probably even more so when there was a loud thump from within, followed by a tangle of wires attached toa board of some kind being pitched out the open door. Summer's head soon followed."Now where did I put--" she started, then stopped, having looked around, and spotted Breq there.
"Oh, hey," she offered. "I didn't know anyone was out here."
no subject
She hadn't been anywhere where pink was a fashionable colour for spaceships, but of course there had to be a place for that.
no subject
She grinned. "Yeah," she said, "I kept her here when Hera and I were fixing her up, and now she just seems the most comfortable here when I'm not getting use out of her.
"What kind of tools?" she then asked. "Oh, and I've got doughnuts, if you want any! I could probably use a break, anyway."
no subject
More to get a reason to ask about the spaceship than for the doughnut.

She walked over to where Summer was standing, looking up at the ship.
"Is it from your universe?"
no subject
No, Summer, you were not nearly as deep as you were trying to sound.
She cocked her head toward the interior of the ship and moved aside to make room for Breq. "It's from Kanan and Hera's universe," she offered. "Which is, to an extend, a lot of other people's universes, too, although not the same dimension. Come on in. Don't mind the mess, I've just been doing a few upgrades and maintenance. We might as well hang out in the cockpit, though you might have to move my cat. She likes to think the other seat is hers."
And she would be right.
no subject
She stepped inside the ship, glancing around. "I'm still not used being stuck on a planet."
Maybe not even in one body.
no subject
A little less pink on the inside, though, thank god.
"I feel you, though," her voice turned a little sympathetic. "Well, being on just one planet, anyway. I really need to get her out more..."
By then, she'd reached the box of doughnuts, picked it up, and offered it out to Breq. "Help yourself," she said. "The more you eat, the less I will."
And maple doughnuts were a dangerous thing to have around for too long.
no subject
Breq picked up a doughnut.
"Where do you usually go?"
no subject
The cat let out a disapproving sound at this change in position, and yet also began to contentedly purr in Summer's arms.
"Here and there'" she said. "It was supposed to be what helped me get around that universe, but there was a...change of plans, so now I just use her when I get a little bored and want to go exploring. There's a few places I like to hide out in when I want to get away, though..."
And she rambled off a small list of places that might have sounded made-up to anyone unused to some of the weird-ass names people gave to planets.
no subject
"Are you from the same universe as Kanan and Hera, then?" she asked, taking a seat while ignoring the cat. She tool a bite from the doughnut.
no subject
"A little tricky," she admitted, "right now since I've kind of got a bounty on my head out there, but I might be helping Rey out a little. Same universe, different dimension-slash-timeline. I just feel like all roads lead to that galaxy for me these days."
In more ways than she even realized, too!

Whoops?
"Sabine painted it," she added fondly. "I might have to talk to her about some touch-ups, though. She's taken on a little battle damage here and there..."
Her head tilted thoughtfully at Breq for a moment, and then thoughtfully at the box of doughnuts, wondering if she did actually want one and if she could manage it with a cat in her arms.
"Have you worked a lot with ships?"
She realized she didn't really know Breq all that well, or, like, hardly at all...

Space travel had only been normal for a couple years of Summer's life and she missed it terribly after only a few weeks, at this point...

She trailed off a little, scratching behind Pancakes' ears thoughtfully as she considered Breq for a moment.
"Can I ask," she ventured, "what kind of business?"
no subject
"Your grampa? Does he work at Portalocity or is he just good at controlling dimensions?"
no subject
She could, however, also respect it.
For now.
"Ohmygod," she said, instead, with a snort. "He would lose his shit if he heard someone mistaking him for one of those, and I quote, 'loser Portalocity hacks.'" She sighed, shaking her head. "He's the only person in my dimension to actually figure out portal technology, which has gotten us in a lot of trouble, but, I mean, it's also pretty sweet being able to just visit whatever dimension we want with the click of a button."
no subject
"You must be one of the few who wasn't surprised about the different universes part when you arrived here," Breq noted. "You're from some version from Earth or somewhere else?"
no subject
Oh, she had been so, so naive back then!
"It was, as you can imagine, a pleasant surprise. And it's pretty much equipped me pretty well to handle pretty much anything this place tries to throw at me. In fact, that's the whole basis of the class I'm teaching right now."
And it was, she was happy to say, still making people WTF effectively.

"In a way," she said with a proud little smile. "I mean, surviving is kind of what I do best."
That, and color-coordinating her outfits with her spaceships.
"It's basically a crash course in weird shit, so that, you know, when Fandom throws something at you, you're pretty prepared for it. The goal is," Summer basically finding a way to work through her unexpressed, subconscious traumas, "that most of the stuff is way weirder than anything Fandom could actually throw at you, but, I mean, hey, this place still surprises even me sometimes..."

"Hey, Summer," she greeted her.
no subject
Apparently, Sunday was scavenge day at the scrapyard; she'd have to remember that. It was a pleasant surprise, though.
"How's it going?"
no subject

Then her head tilted. "What kind of project?"
no subject
It was still weird to call it hers.
no subject
What? Glowy swords were cool! And if next season's preview wasn't just a big fat April Fool's Joke on the part of the creators, Summer might actually have a vested interest in them soon, a-hem.
"What does that even need, though?"
Her knowledge of the inner workings of glowy swords were definitely way behind her budding skills at ship maintenance.
no subject
It wasn't hers, so that felt important.

shamelessly promoting her own characters, la. "I bet she could probably make something that'll be whatever shape you need...or modify something to fit just right. I know she works mostly with, like, ancient weapons and shit, but I know she does a lot of machinery, too."no subject
