Luke's, Thursday
Duke was in a pretty good mood today. He hadn't quite realized it until running into Lucifer's demon friend in Baltimore, but he'd missed some of his more adventurous criminal activities. Getting to do a car chase, an interrogation, and a good old fashioned (albeit slightly more supernaturally charged, thanks to Lucifer and Maze) bar fight had him just about bouncing.
Not even his staff's scornful remarks about his lack of cooler-full-of-fish could get him down.
"Yeah, apparently it's called a 'zebra turkeyfish'. And definitely shouldn't be found off the coast of Maryland. And will probably kill you if you try to eat it. So it's not going to be the special today." Duke shook his head and looked around the dining room. "I might have to set an aquarium up in here or something, though, if I'm going to keep catching the things. They're really cool looking. . . ."

Catch of the day!

And here she was at lunch time, coming over from the flower shop
that she was totally working at today despite the lack of post."Ha yun, jaka. No fish today?"

It felt like the logical question, as she approached the counter.

He despaired for his kitchen staff's survival instincts.

"If they have a deathwish, you can tell them there are easier ways of getting there."

"A lot less exciting than the last couple."

Ones that didn't either reopen old traumas or land one of them with a new roommate.
"Looked like you enjoyed spending time with Maze, too."

"She understands knives."
That was not all it was. That much was probably obvious.

"Yeah."
Just like him and his adventurous criminal activities, that side of her had maybe not been getting as much airtime lately as she would've liked it to.

It wasn't one, though. Wasn't much of a surprise either.
Her voice was still kind of soft, and oddly hopeful. "I'd like to."

"Bet you were more preoccupied with the sexy reasons while we were there, though."

No, saying that clearly didn't count as admitting it, don't be silly.

And stole a quick kiss.
Sorry, staff. They really were getting more obnoxious by the week.

“I want to hear every detail of this little fantasy of yours.”

That's right, she could negotiate and tease at the same time! Though mostly the latter.

She was a very simple gal when it came to food.

Octavia snickered as she pulled him close again. No way was she telling him any secrets from anywhere further than a breath away. "Wow, you didn't forget," she teased. She knew it took more than a lunch order to distract him from something like this. "Well, this is for your ears only, so..."
She reached up, pulling him down a little until she could put her lips near his ear.
And whisper, "Can you still hear me?"

Then she filled him in on what those things were.
It wasn't a very elaborate scenario, but just explicit enough that it warranted the whispering - even with the few bits of dirty Trig she managed to slip in there.
"I mean," she finished off, "I haven't ever actually been with another woman, but I still figure these are decent guesses."
no subject
"I wholeheartedly approve," he said, keeping his own voice low enough that only she would be able to hear. "Want to hear what I was thinking?"
no subject
"Otaim. Tell me."
no subject
"Or, you know," he said when he finished. "Something to that effect." He glanced off towards the diner's office, then to the front door. "You don't, like, actually have to finish your shift at the flower shop, right? 'Cause these guys could definitely hold down the fort here without me. . . ."

A beat.
"But I'm not leaving without my burger."

The staff pointedly ignored him.
"Maybe some drinks, too," he said. "Gotta stay hydrated."
no subject
"Mhmm," she hummed as she nodded. "Things are about to be strenuous, after all."
