Luke's Diner, Wednesday Afternoon

"Why is she crying?" the dishwasher asked, huddled in the doorway with the others.

"I don't know," the busboy said, distressed. He was winding his apron around his hands. "I delivered her lunch, she looked up at me like I kicked her in the face, and then she crumpled up and started wailing."

"What was her lunch?" the dishwasher asked.

"Same thing as always!" Cook sputtered. "Goddamned noodles and cake!"

"Okay, next question," the dishwasher asked. "Why is she crying into a bag?"

It was shrugs all around for that one.

The boss's roommate was weird.

"...I kinda miss just having Parker creeping around the air vents," Cook sighed.

"I don't," the dishwasher said, and went back to the sink.
