Well, look at that, Eric actually doing the front of house part of his job!

He even put up a sign on the door to announce a future event:

TOURNAMENT HERE THAT NIGHT
COME IN AND PRACTICE BEFOREHAND OR RISKING CHOPPING OFF YOUR OWN FOOT AND HAVING US LAUGH AT YOU*

There. He deserved a drink for all that hard work, right?

The sign both made Iris laugh and come inside.

She was still laughing as she wandered on in.

"What if we want someone to cut their foot off?"

Iris. No.

Eric grinned toothily. "Well, maybe we do but...insurance things."

[intraspective]

"Insurance paperwork is the worst," she agreed. "I get it. Maybe some sort of wavier though? After all, we're all adults here and agreein' to somethin' bein' our own responsibility..."

Also, she could heal a foot cut off in seconds. So, really...

Eric nodded. "That could work," he agreed.

True to his super competitive word, Magnus was totally scoping the competition. "Are you in for the ax throwing too?"

Did he need to go kill some gnolls to grind for XP? DID HE?

[intraspective]

Yes, yes he did!

"I'm helpin' to plan it," Iris declared, since she'd helped a little, for a few minutes, and that was enough to declare that. "I'm definitely in! You any good?"

[magnusrushesin]

Damn you, XP grind!

"I like to think I'm pretty good," Magnus said, puffing up proudly. "One time I cleft a man in twain long ways!"

He had some interesting boasts.

"Are we still honestly doing the axe-throwing thing?" Lucifer asked as he swept in, sighily.

"Barely contained violence for fun and potential maiming?" Eric smiled. "I realize it doesn't go with the piano, but yes."

"In a bar? Honestly," Lucifer said. "Who came up with this?"

"I did," Eric said. "It's trendy."

And he liked axes. Mostly that second part.

[intraspective]

"What's wrong with axes?" she asked from the bar. "They're fun."

[my_own_advocate]

"Yes, they are fun. Outside the bar, where no one can bleed in their drinks unless they desperately want to," Lucifer told her.

[intraspective]

She rolled her eyes.

"Cover your drink with your hand while people are throwin' if you're that worried 'bout a little bit of blood," Iris said, amused. "Easy fix."

Did someone say axes?

Because someone's innate sense for a business opportunity that she'd been angling at for a while was tingling!

"A tournament, eh?' said Amaya. "You'll probably want to make sure you've got enough axes for a thing like that. And you can't expect people to get their best throws on any subpar equipment that might currently be on hand..."

Subtle, Amaya. Subtle.

"Yes! We've got to make accidents more likely!"

Iris.

Iris, why do you mean that.

Amaya's mouth opened in an instant agreement, stopped once the words caught up, and then looked maybe a little uncertain.

"Well," she said, "I don't know much about that except that it sounds a bit like an insurance nightmare, but which would you rather have being the cause of your accident? Some junky old used axe...or a nice, bright, new shiny one?"

And then she snorted.

"I guess, either way, you could call it an axe-ident, though!"

Why were they all like this.

"Eric an' I covered that already," she said laughing. "Waivers will absolve the bar of all responsibility for--axe-idents!

Also she was a healer.

"I guess you could say we hatchet a good plan?"

"I don't have subpar equipment," Eric said, "but if you would like to cut us a deal on even better equipment, I am all ears."

"I've seen your axes, Eric," said Amaya. "They're good, but they're not great, and you deserve some great axes. At an equally great price, too, of course." A considering pause. "I'll even waive the expediency fee for needing them by mid-June."

[magnusrushesin]

"Wait, are you offering new gear?" Because Magnus was super down with that. "Because I could super add to my inventory."

[special_rabbit]

"I am selling new gear," said Amaya, cheerfully, because she felt that was an important distinction, but also, she did love business and Magnus now had her attention and she hoped it didn't go anywhere until she had some prospective shiny new jobs. "That's sort of what I do. What are you in the market for?"

[magnusrushesin]

"I'm in!" Magnus announced, slapping his hand down on the bar. You're welcome, Eric.

"Excellent," Eric said. "What would you like to drink today?"

He was betting "flagon of ale."
