After having to explain how showers worked to an actual fact pirate yesterday, Danny felt he had more than earned the right to have a ridiculously sweet coffee adjacent drink. A guy couldn't live off the dregs of the work coffee pot after all.

Well, a guy could. But that way lay madness and probably explosions.

So he was just going to enjoy his coffee and pastry that didn't even hold a candle to a fresh malasada or literally anything from Liliha's.

Weird, right?

Danny rolled his eyes. It was right up there with 'sensitive' being tossed at him for expressing his emotions in a normal human fashion. Via yelling.

"Oh, was my silence too cutting for you?" Danny asked dryly.

"No. But it was worth a try. Since the yelling at me hasn't worked yet."

"Eh, give it time." He'd get there.

"I've had a lot of people yell at me, buddy. Many of them much cuter than you. And it's never changed a damned thing."

If pressed, he'd swear he'd intended to stop throwing the sword when he started the second beer.

That was a lie and you knew it, you emotionally unstable baboon.

"I'm sorry, does a level of attractiveness affect your ability to listen to reason and common sense?"

"Yeah," Duke said. "What, it doesn't for you?"

"No. If that worked, I'd be dead because of Steve's stupidity by now!"

"So . . . Steve's hot, then. Good to know."

Danny rolled his eyes again because yes, everyone he knew was unreasonably attractive. "When he's not bleeding from a head wound because he decided to take up parkour late in life, sure."

"That's that thing where you fling yourself at walls to climb them, right?"

[hatesparadise]

Danny just groaned, feeling the headache coming on at that. "Yeah, that's the thing. Only he's usually chasing someone with no regard for his own well-being."

"So he's a hot idiot," Duke said. "Your partner's a himbo. That explains a lot."

[hatesparadise]

"... I am definitely calling him that." All to watch Steve get annoyed and to the nostril flare thing.

Duke chuckled. "Don't say I never did anything for you, then."

"Eh, you're okay."
