The Devil's Nest, Saturday Night

The sign about the axe throwing competition was much, much bigger tonight because 1) the event was tonight and 2) Eric was just as petty about this as Lucifer was.

Eric was over by the new, shiny axes (thank you, Amaya). Tiny was behind the bar. Lucifer was somewhere. Time to have some fun!

Drink!

Lucifer waited just long enough for Eric to get distracted.

Then he came in, lifted the new sign off the wall like it weighed nothing, and passed Tiny a few extra bills to start screwing with Eric's drink order.

Then he was gone.

Eric hated him so, so much.

(Not really.)

Amaya couldn't throw an axe nearly as good as she could make one, but she definitely wasn't against giving it a few tries. Plus, now that Eric had himself some shiny new Blackstone axes, it wouldn't hurt to take advantage of the wonderful advertising opportunities tonight might afford.

She could also grab a drink and shoot off a few texts to Diaz to show her what she was missing, which inevitably lead to her informing Amaya that it wouldn't be fair to everyone else if she was there, anyway.

Eric grinned. "Thanks for the new axes," he said. "They throw very well."

He'd tried out all of them.

"Told you you needed some new ones!" said Amaya, looking pleased at the praise even though she km new they were all top-notch, even with the rush. "I'm excited to get to see them in action!"

"Are you going to play?" Eric asked ~~pretending like he can't see that other thread~~.

"I'll definitely be giving it a try," Amaya said with a faint grin. "Ain't no point in coming all the way out here," she literally lived just around the corner, "just to look, right? And I guess someone's got to help boost everyone else's confidence, although I will say this much. I can hit the target, at least, more often than not."

And that, she felt, was a fine goal to have.

"How 'bout you? Or do you have to sit out on account of being the guy running it?"

"I think I just can't win," Eric said. "I can play."

"How exciting!" Jaskier said brightly, taking a spot far from the action.

"Are you going to take a turn, too?" Eric asked, smirking.

"Gods no! I'm here as a simple observer," he replied.

"Oh, you're not simple," Eric said. "Give yourself more credit than that."

"I would have said humble, but it's hardly accurate," Jaskier said with a wink.

"Well, you don't have very much to be humble about," Eric replied, smirking.

See, he knew he liked you for a reason, Eric! And not just the climbing like a tree thing.

"You can go on if you like."

"Oh, but it's so much better if you just assume the things you want to hear," Eric said.

"That's true, but sweet nothings are always appreciated," he replied with a pleased little sigh.

"How about a drink instead?" Eric asked.

"I will gladly accept one," Jaskier replied brightly.

"Strong and fruity?" Eric guessed.

"However did you know?"

Eric smirked. "I've owned bars for a very long time."

"I will leave it in your hands," Jaskier replied. "I'm learning all about these cocktails."

"And their hilarious names?" Eric asked, sliding a drink (made by Tiny of coure) across the bar. "Here. A Slow Comfortable Screw. Not really my speed, but some enjoy it."

"My, isn't that forward of you," Jaskier said with a pleased little hum as he accepted the drink.

Eric winked. "I'm a direct sort of person."

Yennefer was definitely not going to throw any axes. She had her dignity. But she might be interested in watching people throw axes while drinking alcohol. It sounded like a winning combination, really.

"Hello there," Eric said, smiling. "Can Tiny get you something to drink?"

Dance! Play the piano broodily!

Silly team names optional but super encouraged.

"Anyone wanna be team Axe You A Question? Anyone?"

"Oooh!" said Amaya, who could not help herself, she really, really couldn't. "What about Axe, and Ye Shall Receive..." Dramatic paaaaaaaause, "...a Win!"

"Ohhh, nice one!" Magnus said, holding up a hand for a high-five.

Ha! Take that, Daventry! Amaya was so highing that five!

And now that the real important question had been answered, she supposed it was onto the next one on the list.

"So...you any good at this axe-throwing thing?"

"I mean, I got some pretty high stats on weapon handling in general, so I think I got this."

Depending on the roll.

"I'm sure you'll do the axes fine justice," Amaya decided, with a firm nod meant to instill confidence that she was pretty sure Magnus didn't exactly need. "And I can mostly promise that I'm fairly certain I'll at least hit the targets!"

Be a bard for him since the bard in the bar lacked magic powers! "With this team name and your sponsorship, contract pending, I'm bound to win!"

Especially if no one else showed up!

Although if magical powers were a requirement for the bard part, then Amaya was strictly out as well.

"Are we allowed betting?" she wondered. "I'd be willing to put one shiny gold coin into the pool for your victory, Magnus."

"I'm totally the best bet here," he said, preening.
