Fandom Pride Parade!

Under the beautiful blue-gray sky illuminated with a gorgeous double rainbow, the denizens of Fandom--human, animal, and prefer-not-to-disclose--gathered on the beach and prepared to take their joyful, colorful, definitely unorganized parade through the streets of the island.

Tiny--glad in a pair of rainbow booty shorts, and only a pair of booty shorts--led the procession, with Leroy the squirrel not far behind staggering under the weight of his "LOVE IS LOVE" sign.

Come on down, everyone! Get some beads! Get a hug! Get some of...whatever it is the NPC workers of 'Dite's are tossing!

Duke had been to a number of Prides over the years, all over the world.

This one was definitely new.

He found himself a nice spot to sit back and watch the parade, a rainbow colored drink in one hand, his phone in the other. Where else would one get photos of rainbow decorated squirrels, after all?

"The squirrel are particularly striking," Steve said, laughing. "How long do you think the dye lasts in their fur?"

“Guess we’ll find out,” Duke said with a shrug. “This an annual thing here?”

Steve nodded. "I joined in last year," he said, smiling a little sheepishly. "Friends were very insistent about it."

“Oh yeah?” Duke gave him an exaggerated once over. “Did you go full rainbow bootie shorts?”

Steve blushed. "I was told it was traditional."

"Well. I mean." Duke pointed to his dishwasher, who was very much wearing very very little as he danced down the street. "Apparently it is. I never thought I'd ever see quite that much of that guy."

"It does take a certain amount of confidence to pull off," he admitted. "It's why I'm not doing it today. Once involved a lot of staring."

Duke flicked Steve another look.

"Does any look you wear not involve a lot of staring? I mean." He gestured to the full Steveness of Steve. "Look at you. You should be crafted out of marble."

Steve blushed. "Thank you? But the shorts were definitely a step further than I normally go."

"Fair enough," Duke said, nodding. "Never let it be said that I don't approve of hot people making their own clothing choices."

Jaskier had no idea what was going on, but a parade was a parade, so he was there and possibly wearing a rainbow flag as a cape because it looked like fun.

And was where he belonged.

With maybe a little glitter.

Steve gave him an unironic double thumbs up. "Like the cape!"

"Is this a weekend of festivals?" Because Jaskier was down with that.

"When better than the summer?" Steve asked, grinning. "This is a Pride parade."

He was so proud of knowing that.

"Ah!" That explained nothing, Steve. Nothing.

"It's a celebration of...understanding," Steve tried. "Generally about your sexual preferences, but not always?"

"Will there be demonstrations?" Way to miss the point, Jaskier.

"...of their sexual preferences?" Steve repeated slowly. "Probably not in public?"

Duke let out a wolf whistle. "You've found your people!"

"I have?" Jaskier was just going with the flow, but yes. Yes he had.

Duke gave him a double thumb up. "Rainbow parades with glitter? Yeah. I'm thinking you really have."

"I was starting to become concerned with the lack of celebrations here," he admitted. And now two in a row!

Duke considered that and gave him a little shrug. "Well, I guess when you can make a party out of anything at any time, they kind of lose some of their impact."
