The Devil's Nest, Friday Night
Was anyone in the mood for piano jazz? Because Lucifer was certainly in the mood for jazz piano.
The lights had been dimmed somewhat to make for the right atmosphere, and the axe range was currently home to some truly gargantuan potted plants. Lucifer's jacket laid on top of his piano; Lucifer himself was at the keys.
Yes. Definitely a jazz day.

Excluding the flask in her purse, of course, but that was, like, Plan C.

He wasn't in the mood to humor Eric.

It wasn't, actually, believe it or not.
"But a piƱa colada would be perfect." Since she apparently hadn't had enough of drinks that little umbrella could be stuck into. "Thank you. And how are you this evening, Mr. Morningstar?"
no subject
"You heard her," Lucifer told Tiny, who scurried off to make the drink. "Water balloons ruined my favorite suit for the night," he added, sighing, "This bloody island."
He had at least three entirely similar suits.

"At least," she then said, to Lucifer, "they were just water balloons and not something else? That sucks, though..."
Even if she would have paid good money to have gotten to see that...
"I got nailed right in the face first thing when I stepped outside on my way to do radio this morning."

"But, like I said, at least it's just water and not, like, concentrated gremlin venom or something that makes anyone who gets hit act crazy, or de-age for a certain amount of time, or turn into something else entirely, or whatever....
"Or glitter. God, could you imagine? That shit never leaves."

Beat.
"Do we have any idea why the island decided to weaponize water today, or is it just because it's Friday?"
no subject
"Although tomorrow is Steeeeeve's birthday party..."
She had some thinking to do. But she shook her head before she started going through the pros and cons of glitterbombing Steeeeeve (in red, white, and blue, obvs) for his birthday, to focus on the other, less interesting stuff.
"But honestly? Things have been crazy quiet around here lately; I think the island' sjust sort of slowly getting back into its usual nonsense groove. Kiddie pools yesterday, water balloons today, it's probably getting into a summertime mood, is my guess."

Another longing sigh and a quick moment to think of when she might be able to steal a little time to take the ship out, and shook her head.
"But I mean, the last time the island decided to take itself place, it ended up being a summer filled with some fresh new nightmare every week, so I'm definitely okay if it got its wanderlust out of its system for a little while. I'll happily take water balloons and kiddie pools over everyone turning into monsters and toys."

Some days Lucifer was very happy to be a Celestial.
"How on Earth did that work? I take it it wasn't the fun kind."

still being played outevents that evening on the Rouge, Duke was in rather desperate need of a stiff drink. And even more in need of not being anywhere near Octavia. He didn't much pay attention to the music or the piano or anything at all but the bottle he ordered from Tiny in sharp monosyllables and the farthest, darkest corner of the club he could find.
no subject
"Suppose I should see why he's brooding," he muttered to Tiny, downing his drink as he eyed Duke.
Tiny took the empty glass from his hand and sped off to get Lucifer a new one.
no subject
Wondering where exactly they got quite so fucked up.
no subject
"Should I ask Tiny to ready you a to-go bag with another bottle?" he asked, approaching the table.
no subject
Then he downed the rest of his drink and poured himself another.

Even as someone who maybe wasn't the best at reading human emotions that weren't desire, he could probably tell that, yes, it was absolutely that bad.

Don't what was a good question. But it was something he was saying a lot, tonight.
