The training warehouse- Friday afternoon

The fun of random water balloon attacks from nowhere was that Rey couldn't predict them, even with better senses and reflexes. And she didn't even mind it so much in principle when it was hot, but one minute she'd be minding her business and the next there'd be a water balloon hitting the back of her head, and that she had a problem with.

If there were any annoyed yelps coming from the warehouse, that'd be why.

Anakin came in, dripping.

"This place is ridiculous," he complained.

"Don't think you're any safer in here," Rey warned, wiping water out of her eyes.

[sith_happened]

"Probably not," Anakin admitted, "but at least we have weapons?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Weapons don't help against water balloons," Rey told him.

She'd tried.

[sith_happened]

Anakin looked extremely disappointed to hear that. "Are you sure?"

[thatwaslucky]

"You could try," she said.

When they came out of nowhere she wasn't having luck.

"I think I will," Anakin said.

"Just not that," he amended immediately when he got hit straight onto the top of his head.

[thatwaslucky]

"I've tried to predict them," she said, sympathetic. "Doesn't work."

[sith_happened]

Anakin made a face. "It should. They're part of the Force."

[thatwaslucky]

"Is this our lesson for the day?" Rey asked.

[sith_happened]

"Yes," Anakin declared, glaring at...the universe at large, really. "We'll work on not getting hit."

[thatwaslucky]

"This island, I swear," Rey sighed.

[sith_happened]

Anakin settled onto the floor to meditate and got hit between the shoulders for his trouble. "Ugh."

[thatwaslucky]

"We're not counting that one," Rey decided, sitting across from him.

[sith_happened]

"I appreciate that," Anakin said wryly.

[thatwaslucky]

"Figured you would," she sniped, closing her eyes to focus.

[sith_happened]

Anakin followed shortly behind, reaching into the Force and waiting for...a balloon to will itself into being or whatever.

After a silent moment, the balloon appeared.

By smacking into the back of Rey's head with a little shriek.

"They're fast," Anakin said, frowning. "Almost no time between them appearing and the target."

[thatwaslucky]

"Yep," she said, pushing wet hair out of her face. "And the target is us."

[sith_happened]

"But our reflexes are faster," Anakin said. "Should be faster."

[thatwaslucky]

"Water versus Jedi. Or almost-Jedi," Rey sighed, closing her eyes again. "

[sith_happened]

It took four water balloons and a fair number of Huttese curses before Anakin finally caught one. "Ha! Gotcha!"

"Okay, how did you do that?" asked Rey, dripping wet.

[sith_happened]

"You have to really relax into the Force and know where everything in this space is so you can feel when something new shows up," Anakin said, then got hit by one while he was explaining. "Without any other distractions," he added.

[thatwaslucky]

"And then not let the something new become the distraction," Rey said.

[sith_happened]

"I haven't figured that part out completely just yet," Anakin admitted.

[thatwaslucky]

"You've at least proved that it's possible," she said, optimistically.

[sith_happened]

"You can do it too!" Anakin proclaimed. "Probably."

Because optimism looked weird on him.

[thatwaslucky]

Rey nodded, and closed her eyes, focusing.

A moment later there was the squelch of a water balloon popping onto her back, but at least she didn't shriek this time.

Probably because she was used to it.

"Almost got it," Anakin said encouragingly, catching another aimed at him and setting it next to him instead.

Rey heard that, but let it fall by the wayside, focusing on what she was already doing.

And then it took long enough that she almost got bored.

And maybe she was really irritated by then because when one did show up, it got flung halfway across the warehouse.
