It was a glorious day here on the island, and Blathers was hard at work!

Okay technically if you caught him in the morning he'd be asleep standing up but give him a break, he had worked all night and didn't leave.

Maybe you had donations? Or perhaps you wanted to tour the museum to see what was already on display?

Danny was running late, so Steve went over to the museum alone to interview whatever a "Blathers" was.

"Hello there," he said to the...owl in a bow tie. Sure. "You Blathers?"

Blathers was peacefully sleeping. Standing up. Like an owl.

"Yo!" Steve said, raising his voice. "You Blathers?"

"Hoo- HOO!!" Blathers said as his eyes snapped open. "Pardon me. How can I be of service?"

"I'm Lt Cmdr McGarrett from the Five-O Task Force, detailed this island," --sure--, "and I'd like to ask you a few questions about a fellow named Redd and his art dealings."

"Of course! What would you like to ask?" Blathers said.

"The folks over at town hall yesterday implied that you weren't a fan of his," Steve said. "Have you purchased any of his art for this museum?"

"Absolutely not. We accept donations from residents only," Blathers explained. "All art donations are thoroughly verified before we will accept them. That does not mean from time to time, unwary residents don't try to donate something fraudulent that they paid for."

Tsk, Redd.

"Has that happened here recently?" Steve asked.

"Why, just yesterday Kitty tried to donate a piece of art- along with other contributions to our aquarium- and I unfortunately had to give it back to her and inform her that she had unknowingly purchased a fake," Blathers answered.

"How can you tell the fake stuff from the real?" Steve asked.

He usually sent other team members in to infiltrate art dealerships.

"Why, research, of course!" Blathers said proudly. "I am very knowledgeable on all facets of the museum. There are slight differences in a counterfeit painting- an arm might be raised higher than in the original, a hairstyle might be different- to the untrained eye it would be very easy to mistake them for a valid piece!"

"So he specializes in paintings and not sculpture?" Steve confirmed. "Are all of his pieces fake, or just some?"

"I have seen some sculptures come in these doors," Blathers answered. "Some are real! We have several pieces which pass muster."

"So Redd sells all art, and legitimate mixed in with the fakes. That's smart of him. Makes it harder to get caught," Steve said. "Do you know where we can find him?"

"He travels in an old boat and comes ashore occasionally. You can find by the plume of black smoke coming from it." Dreadful.

Steve made a face at that. "Might have to add environmental destruction to the list of charges," he said.

"I cannot comment on that," Blathers said. "Is there any other way I can be of service?"

"Not at the moment," Steve said, pulling out his business card. "Give me a call if you see him, though, okay?"

"Of course! Please enjoy the rest of your visit."

You were staying to look at the wonderful exhibits, weren't you?

Well now that you guilted him about it, yeah.

"Mahalo," Steve said, then tried to walk through the museum as quickly as possible.

It's actually pretty cool.
