The park- Friday afternoon

Once Jaina had figured out the tools in her strangely giant pockets that she actually wanted to keep, Daniel had decided he wanted to fish in the pond. But that really that meant he wanted Jaina to fish, while he pointed out ripples in the water like he was helping.

And if you thought this meant she didn't have an eye on the other twin? Oh no, she did. He was doing zoomies through the grass with an elephant.

Which meant she sent a quick text, and really wished there was an early warning system for this sort of thing.

Magnus placed a giant Godzilla statue down in the middle of the park. Then mused over the placement to push it a little bit to the left.

Because he had so much stuff and it had to go somewhere.

He added a giant anime robot, pushing it so it would twist in place to 'fight' the Godzilla. You know. Like a monument.

"There we go! Now to see if I can get some hybrid flowers."

"What are you doing?" Jaina had to ask, even if she was worried about learning.

"Decorating," he said, flipping through ax, to shovel, to fishing rod, to star wand, to better ax, to shittier ax, finally settling on a net. "But might as well catch some bugs while I can, you know?"

"Yeah. Totally normal thing to say. Please don't say that too loud in front of my sons."

You know what she didn't want to do? Spend her day getting them to stop chasing boring dung beetles.

"Why? They sell for some premo cash!" And that was what you needed to keep the Nook mafia off your back.

"If I just got here yesterday, am I past the point where any of this will make sense?" she checked.

[magnusrushesin]

"Yeeeeah," Magnus agreed, nodding along with it. "But hey, maybe if you get some turnips, you can make up for it."

[solo_sword]

"Why?"

Obvious question, maybe.

[magnusrushesin]

"Well, it's the stalk market. Which doesn't translate over an audio medium, so I'm gonna explain that it's a play on the stock market." And still, that didn't make any sense to Jaina, did it?

"Ah, now I get it," Jaina lied. "So aside from turnips... what's going on, exactly?"

[magnusrushesin]

"Random music and animal people giving you gifts just for being there," Magnus replied. "It's pretty sweet."

[solo_sword]

"And this doesn't end in someone attacking?"

Because like, zoomies with an elephant.

[magnusrushesin]

"Nothing so far." Somewhere in the distance... a rickshaw exploded.

Jaina heard that, and sighed. At least it didn't feel like active danger?

"This place, I swear."

[magnusrushesin]

"I'll let you know if anyone seems shady," he promised loyally. His interaction with Tom Nook wasn't long enough to decide he was obviously the bad guy.

"Like the people giving out random gifts just for being here?" she asked.

[magnusrushesin]

"I mean. If you think a cute, fringed skirt is shady, I guess." He was gonna wear the hell out of that skirt, thank you.

"Why would someone give you a fringed skirt?" That wasn't what she would expect out of a gift?

[magnusrushesin]

"Because it's cute." Duh.

[solo_sword]

"Actually, that makes about as much sense as anything else," Jaina decided.

[magnusrushesin]

"Maybe you'll get a cute skirt next," Magnus suggested. Because he was giving like that.

[solo_sword]

"That... would be something I don't have," Jaina allowed, frowning as she had to reel in a fish ugh seriously why did the kid decide he liked fish today.

[magnusrushesin]

Well, it could always be a tire. Or a boot.

"See? Nothing shady about that."

[solo_sword]

"I guess not. Do I have to put the fish in my pocket? Is that how this works?"

Gross, when you think about it.

[magnusrushesin]

"I mean. When you drop it on the ground, it's in a lil' container, So I assume it's not just loose fish boys in your pants."

That was a very colorful way of putting it.

[solo_sword]

"That's actually worse than just putting fish in my pockets," Jaina said, putting the fish in her pocket.

Daniel was already pointing out something in the water again.

"Now how is that worse?" Magnus had to ask.

[solo_sword]

"Loose fish boys in your pants?"

She was an empress, Magnus.

[magnusrushesin]

"I said they weren't loose fish boys!"

[solo_sword]

"Sounds disgusting either way," Jaina said, casting the line again. Because apparently she did that now?

Nearby, a little red duck named Ketchup took up a spot to fish.

[solo_sword]

Jaina left her alone for a while, right up until her fishing pole broke? And disappeared?

"Is it supposed to do that?"

[fh_animalcrossing]

"If you're too loud, the fish won't bite," Ketchup told her.

[solo_sword]

"I can say it quieter," Jaina said, pretty much giving her a pass because she was cute.

[fh_animalcrossing]

"You can make a new one at the DIY workbenches," Ketchup said.

[solo_sword]

"That's a thing?"

Okay, never again was she coming in to one of these things late. She was so behind, and it bugged.

Which was really annoying because it meant that she was behind on a fishing pole.

"I feel like you're staring at me and it's making me nervous," Ketchup admitted.

Did... did she just get dismissed by a duck?

"Okay, kids, we're done with fishing today!" Jaina announced, like Daniel hadn't already run off to join in the zoomies anyway.
