Trooper Station, Friday

Much like certain other people, Liam had spent a good portion of the night fishing. Unlike certain other people, he hadn't needed to sneak back into his apartment after a night of playing hooky, because his wife was a) currently a flying squirrel and b) used to him occasionally coming and going at what she considered 'all hours' because he only needed two or three hours of sleep a night. Anyway. His loan was now fully paid off, was the thing, and now...

Now he was sitting at his desk, half-anticipating, half-dreading if Steve and Danny would have any results when it came to today's attempt at a stakeout.

A tiger ran into the station.

"Omigosh! Did you hear?!"

Liam glanced up. And then had to work hard to hide a smile because oh my god, that was an adorable tiger.

"Hear what?" he asked, taking the bait.

"K.K. Slider is playing a concert on our island!" Bianca said, unable to stop herself. "Sorry, was that loud? This is just the most exciting thing to ever happen here!"

She'd been here like a day.

"I'm afraid I have no idea who that is," Liam had to admit.

He was sure Bianca would tell him.

"He's only the best singer ever! And he's coming here! Tomorrow!"

"So I should check out this concert?" Liam asked.

"Yes! And you should bring your friends! Everyone should get to hear this! Who knows when it would ever happen again!"

Every week, if this were a more permanent thing.

"Who knows indeed," Liam agreed, who'd been on Fandom long enough to suspect that whatever was going on would last, like, a month max.

"Here," Bianca said, pulling something out of her pockets to give him. "I thought you should have this. A denim vest!"

Danny was looking a little worse for wear when he entered the trooper station. So, wanna guess how that stakeout went, Liam? Wanna guess?

He let out an annoyed little sigh, half waving at Liam as he went to his desk.

Funny, how Danny skulking in looking 'a little worse for wear' had immediately been preceded by the sounds of what Liam could only describe as 'a commotion' outside.

Liam glanced up as he saw Danny enter, and then after giving him a moment to settle in, left his office to go perch on the edge of Danny's desk and give him a Look.

"Williams."

"Sheriff," Danny replied neutrally. "It appears that we need a siren for the rickshaws."

Honestly, this wasn't even the worst thing that had happened since Danny had been on the Five-0 Taskforce.

"A siren," Liam repeated. "For the rickshaws. Don't they only go like, twenty miles an hour?"

"Not if they go down the stairs." Danny's expression one that strongly implied he was going to murder Steve.

"Why," Liam pinched the bridge of his nose.

He wasn't going to finish the rest of that sentence, Daniel. He was sure you could fill it in.

"Steven." That was all you needed to know.

[firstofitskind]

“I see,” Liam said solemnly. “Did you at least catch the fox in question?” He was guessing no, since he hadn’t seen anyone being led into the holding cells.

"We're still pursuing leads," Danny said diplomatically.

Steve walked in and ran his fingers through his hair. "He wasn't my direction, but I saw his boat disappearing over the horizon."

"Did you learn anything, at least?"

Beyond 'rickshaws make terrible vehicles for a chase sequence'.

"Popcorn machines are more dangerous than previously thought," Danny ventured, looking to Steve for confirmation.

"And highly flammable," Steve said, nodding very seriously.

"Well," Liam said evenly. "That makes sense. "All the oil."

[hatesparadise]

"Huh." Now it did make sense.

[grenadesandohana]

"Told you it wasn't my fault," Steve muttered.

It was maybe still a little your fault, Steve. A rickshaw chase had been your idea.

"So let me see if I've got this straight: we don't have anyone in custody, but we do have property damage in the form of a popcorn machine and at least two rickshaws."

He wasn't going to ask where the popcorn machine had come from. Lots of random stuff had been popping up lately.

"It's an on-going investigation," Danny countered with the practiced ease of someone who had to explain Five-0's bullshit to higher ups regularly.

"Mmmhmm."

What? Did he honestly think Liam had never tried using that with his own higher-ups?

Steve was standing there in his most "look how responsible and authoritative I am" stance.

It helped that he'd ditched the frog outfit from yesterday.

"We'll keep you in the loop."

It was his I'm A Very Trustworthy Navy SEAL face too.

"I'll get the after incident report together." Since Steve was allergic to paperwork somehow. He was in the military his entire life and couldn't do paperwork.
