Movie Sign Theater, Saturday Evening

Sadly, the solved-a-crime-high was already wearing off by Saturday. It had felt good to feel useful again, but Detective Jersey Dan was no Chloe Decker. Two days later, Lucifer almost felt more maudlin for it.

He strolled through the city in the evening, lost in thought-- when he suddenly found himself confronted with a familiar face on a familiar poster. He blinked repeatedly, almost certain he was hallucinating.

Then he looked up at the marquee.

TONIGHT ONLY:
HOT TUB HIGH SCHOOL
HOW WILL YOU GRADUATE?

"...This is targeted harassment," he said.

Looked both ways for reasons that were entirely beyond him, and walked into the theater.

[[ open, moviegoers! tonight's movie is the terrible high school comedy Lucifer's Detective starred in in her twenties. god help us all. ]]

Shortly afterwards Lucille entered the theater, having walked past and noticed there was a movie showing. It had been a long time since she had watched one.

She found a seat, choosing one not next to, but not at the other end from the other person there, she sat down, waiting for the movie to start.

And here Lucifer had hoped he'd be alone for this one.

... Not alone like that. Just-- alone.

He looked up and squinted against the shadows, trying to see if he recognized her.

Lucille turned her head and smiled in his direction. The movie hadn't started yes, and so she felt it was acceptable to ask:

"Do you know anything about this movie?"

"I've seen it a few times," Lucifer said. "It's... absolutely terrible."

And the credits ran in the first five or so minutes, so he desperately hoped nobody who actually knew him would make it here.

"Then why are you watching it?" Lucille asked. "Are you bored?"

She wasn't sure if Lucifer's judgement meant she should leave.

"Sometimes terrible movies make the best entertainment," Lucifer said.

And Chloe starred in it.

Tiny twenty-year-old naked Chloe, but still.

"Really?"

She hadn't considered that.

"Well, I suppose."

Lucille didn't sound quite convinced.

"Just lower your expectations," Lucifer advised.

Lucille lowered her expectations. It was still terrible. Then came a quite pointless scene where a young woman showed her breasts while sitting in a hottub. Not that that bothered her, but Lucille had had enough and got to her feet. She had better things to do.

Lucifer ignored her.

Ugh, even Chloe's breasts managed to make him sad.

Steve and Danny had to see their forgettable Season 2 co-star in this glorious movie hadn't gone to a movie to talk through and annoy people around them in a while!

"This one doesn't sound too bad!" Steve said, pointing at the marquee.

Steve had terrible taste.

Steve had the worst taste, yes.

"This? This is what you want to see?"

"I like hot tubs," Steve said, giving Lucifer a little nod as he found a seat. "And high school. How bad can it be?"

Lucifer shot a glance at them, which turned briefly into a glare - mostly that other people had to walk in on him caving to this moment of weakness - and said nothing.

Hopefully they would shut up soon enough.

They would not. At all.

"Hey, does she look like Lori?" Danny asked, squinting a little at the actress.

"Who?" Steve asked, squinting at Danny and not the actress.

[hatesparadise]

"Lori," Danny repeated like that would jog his memory. "Steve, she worked with us for about 6 months."

"Was she FBI?" Steve asked.

She'd declared her love for you and run off, idiot.

"The actress's name is Chloe Decker," Lucifer snapped. "This is a movie theater, can you two reminisce later?"

"Chloe Decker," Danny repeated, smacking Steve's arm and pretending like they both knew that. "Of course."

Oh, Lucifer. Sorry they were awful watching movies together.

"Homeland Security. The babysitter, remember?"

Who Steve had a hissy fit over Danny being handcuffed to.

"Oh, the one who got handcuffed to you!" Steve tilted his head at the actress. "Huh. Didn't know she acted."

Lucifer looked over his shoulder again, offended. "Please. Like Chloe would go for a Navy airhead like you."

SHE HAD TO LEAVE BECAUSE OF HER FEELINGS FOR A VERY OBLIVIOUS STEVE. FACTS.

"No, this was Lori. Lori," Danny corrected.

"Maybe Chloe's her stage name," Steve said. "We can ask the head of her fanclub over here."

Lucifer made an irritated noise. "She is a detective with the LAPD," he snapped. "Not your Patriot Act-worshipping summer fling, or whatever you're thinking about."
