The park- Sunday afternoon

It was hot, but the twins had basically bugged Jaina to go to the park all morning so she figured they'd tire themselves out at the playground quickly and then that'd be that.

Of course Daniel stopped at the pond first, told her there were fish, then cried when she told him the fish were gone.

And now with that done and forgotten about, she was with them on the playground, trying to help them on the equipment. Wow did her life get different.

Would they be cheered up with pancake hats? Because Anakin was coming over, and he had pancake hats.

So did Juliet and Christopher, who beelined over to the twins, yelling happily.

And the twins forgot all about the playground for the moment! Look, great-relatives!

"Do I even want to know what those are?" Jaina asked.

"Pancakes," Anakin said. "As a hat. Rory thought they were hilarious."

[solo_sword]

"Please tell me I can take these just for see the look on Jag's face when he sees them," Jaina said.

[sith_happened]

"Oh, definitely," Anakin said, "but you must send me a picture of what his face does."

[solo_sword]

"Done. And he shouldn't be back for a few days so by then they'll be really attached to them," she said.

Anakin burst out laughing. "That's some pro-level parenting."

[solo_sword]

"People try to kill me very seldom these days, so I have to make my own fun," she shrugged.

[sith_happened]

"Tormenting your spouse is a good choice," Anakin said, nodding.

[solo_sword]

"He knew what he was getting into when he started dating me a second time," Jaina said. "And actually the first time."

[sith_happened]

"So really, he deserves the pancake hats," Anakin concluded.

[solo_sword]

"I won't say he should have seen this coming, but he also shouldn't be surprised," she said. "Besides, it'd be adorable and he knows it."

[sith_happened]

"Christopher and Juliet love them," Anakin admitted. "I don't think Christopher has taken it off since Thursday."

[solo_sword]

"Sounds about right. How long do you think that'll last?"

What was her future here?

[sith_happened]

"Couple of weeks?" Anakin said optimistically.

[solo_sword]

"That's better than I thought. Dax carried around a stuffed bantha for months without letting it be washed. I'll take a couple weeks."

[sith_happened]

Anakin laughed. "There's an exception for stuffed friends. I don't know why."

[solo_sword]

"He finally will leave it alone long enough to send it for washing and have it back before he notices," Jaina said. "I've had missions less complicated."

[sith_happened]

"We have several backups of Christopher's favorite friend," Anakin admitted. "Don't tell him."

[solo_sword]

"I would never. That kind of information is sacred," Jaina said.

She meant it.

Parent rules.

Anakin smiled. "Thank you. The backups are noticeably cleaner, unfortunately."

[solo_sword]

"Probably not for long," Jaina said. "Maybe I should start that. I think half their stuff comes from Mom and Dad, and they have no problem spoiling them."

[sith_happened]

"It's better to be safe than sorry for having left favorite friend in a different state or planet," Anakin said.

[solo_sword]

"I don't know how likely that is, at least. Jag's people are very thorough about everything."

It was so annoying.

And she still didn't consider them her people.

"Even when they visit your parents?" Anakin asked.

That sounded exhausting, and he'd married a woman with multiple identical bodyguards.
